Keir Starmer

And your reform would not penalise current working people, or those about to join the workforce?
Or we just carry on as we are?

The state pensions need reforming so that it is (a) valuable and (b) affordable. That cannot be achieved without radical change. If implemented over a 40 year period then people have time to adjust. We can increase the amount young people and their employers are obliged to put into their private pensions, and offset any hardship with reduced NI contributions and tax breaks. This would have to be funded through general taxation but over a 40 year period it would be affordable.

The end state would be that the state pension was means tested and only provided like income support to those in most need.

Taxes are on the up and the DoE decide to spend public money on a morbidly obese moron for what benefit exactly?

The issue is a lack of social housing with any new stock never going to the the working young families that desperately need it (check criteria for the vast majority of housing associations) and a system that nobody has any control over (crazy, ridiculous house prices) coupled with banks who make it as difficult as possible to lend and afford one.

There should be a bank of central lending that guarantees a mortgage to working people who are currently paying rent with no arrears.

It’s got fuck all to do with pensioners. They got told to save into pensions and buy their own homes which they did.

The system is broken.

I agree.

I'm nearly 50. I cannot afford a mortgage because I can't put enough away. This is despite living on a "living wage".

The whole system is fucked up. I expect I'll be renting all my life and spend my last days being abused by a neanderthal carer in a shit care home.

Demonising the consumption of alcohol lmao, why should MPs be allowed to get beered up on the job? Starmer just deflecting as he doesn't have an answer.
She's right.

I'd get sacked turning up for negotiation in my union role after having 6 pints of £1.69 piss in Spoons.

Well, he’s outlasted Pep and only another couple of days until another week has been ticked off.

He’ll be lucky to last the week at some point.
He’s certainly obdurate and resilient when it comes to self-preservation. Anyone comparing him unfavourably to Truss plainly isn’t capable of objective thought on him. He definitely has some positive qualities, but not enough of them and not where it matters.

His response to the reprehensible Farage at PMQs just now was very impressive and unusually fiery. He is a very effective opponent of Reform.
If he was more emotional like he was today he might get some more support.

He was calm but you could hear the anger in his voice at Farage shit stirring.

My tenant always paid on time , I have offered her if she wants to buy it from me, the house is 160 k , I offered her it for 150 k , she would pay 832 to a mortgage but pays me 800

In last 18 months it’s had new boiler and radiator 2700 , 100 quid on repairs for a toilet , and gas fire is been conmdemded and needs a electric 1 putting in , all fire place needs ripping out patching up electrics put to it and new fire I’m guessing this will be grand minimum, could a tennant afford to pay for this if owed the house , might be what puts people off
