Anyone wondering what type of player he is should watch this video.
He really is a highlight reel player. His passing is brilliant, always with a little bit of flair, his shooting is inch perfect 80% of the time. He can pass long or short, mostly with his left but he can use his right foot if he needs to.

For free it's a no brainer. Get him in Roberto and Txiki.

I don't think we can get him free. There would be a lot of competitions if he were free. I've just checked his market price. It's currently €20 mils, despite the fact his contract expires less than a year. That means CSKA would make sure they would sell him to the highest bidder in summer.

His contract runs out at the end of the season, and I've heard nothing about him signing a new contract. Even if we can get him for anything less than €10m then it's still a no brainer in my opinion.

Are you sure his contract ends at the end of the season? People are talking at a forum for AC Milan about Milan going for him in summer at the cut price of €5m. They seem to believe his contract expires in Dec., not June. Many think he will be about €15~18mil in summer.

on a free yes, otherwise no.

LOL. I think it's silly. Don't forget the likes of Modric and Bale cost 40~60 mil just because they have played in the EPL.

I found this. His performance in the first half of the 2012-2013 season. Of course I know everyone looks great on youtube. But, he looks genuine quality, not hyped up by agents and sponsors. And unlike most Japanese players, he looks physically imposing as well.

I have read that the Japan national team coach, Zaccheroni, uses him as #10 in 4-2-3-1 formation and regards him as the team's talisman. I remember his brilliant free kick in the previous WC.

Anyone wondering what type of player he is should watch this video.

If we can spend at least 20m on a player whose contract ends in 6 months *ahem Nasri ahem*, we should be able to do it again.

That's true. Fair enough.

Kagawa? He is just overrated, pure and simple. There is no comparison. Honda is a much superior player than kagawa.

Honda was impressive when he played against Real Madrid in the first leg of the last 16 stage of CL last year. He came on as a sub in the 2nd half and he definitely changed the game. It was remarkable given that it was the first game he had played since returning from a lengthy injury break. The likes of Xabi Alonso and Khedira were just no match for him.

I wanted to reboot this thread because Honda had a fantastic game against Australia in the World Cup qualifier last night. He is very strong physically so I reckon he would cope well with the demands of the premiership. His interplay with Kagawa around the box reminded me very much of the way City plays the ball intricately in the same area.

I know that he was on LoveCity's list of transfer frees for the coming season. If we wanted to penetrate further into the Asian market, and pick up a quality player, he is well worth a look.
