Which performances were those?

I imagine that's got something to do with his 10 goals and 20 assists this season...

KDB is playing because Gundogan is injured, and Navas because both RB's were injured....would you want to see Kelechi at right back instead?

...But Kelechi has been just as guilty at missing chances. He missed multiple in the league cup derby, he missed plenty in the Bucharest game, the Everton 1-1, even in the OT derby he missed a bunch of chances to kill off the game.

He started the season with Pep's confidence, he got thrown straight into the OT derby, and lost his place over the course of Aguero's suspension with bad performances.

Sane - Pretty much every game up until we played Arsenal at home or are we gonna rewrite history?

Sterling - According to Whoscored, com this season Sterling has played 54 games (3119 mins) he has scored 9 goals and has 9 assists. Kelechi has played 28 games (606 mins) and has scored 9 goals and has 3 assists. Now, I am not big on stats because I think they mask a lot with regards to actual performance levels (see David Silva), however if we are going to use them in this instance, I would suggest the stats state that Kelechi is far more effective than Sterling.

KDB has been playing all season, flitting between a deep-lying midfield role, a number 10 and a right winger. Navas has played over 30 games this season and has been absolute turd for the majority, the majority of which have not been at RB.

As for Kelechi missing chances, I am yet to see a striker yet that scores with every attempt. Every striker misses chances, including the very best. The difference is they get to come back the game after and try again, Kelechi gets to sit on the bench for the next 5 games.

Not the most refined footballer in the world, but the lad scores goals.

Would get 10+ goals next season in a loan spell at somewhere like Bournemouth.

Actually I do rate him, I rate him incredibly highly and not just as a finisher. The difference between us is I'm not so blinkered and hellbent on blaming everything on the manager. Kelechi isn't the answer to all of our problems, hasn't looked comfortable in the team when given starts and could do with a loan somewhere he can have time to learn how to play the way we do. If he can do that, and Hoffenheim would be the perfect place for it, then he could be an incredibly good player for us in the future, under Guardiola.

Whatever Domalino whatever.

Spot on.

Haha no problem. Its clear you dont rate him and dont think we could have done with him the last five months, fair enough thats your opinion.

I think otherwise and rate the young lad I think we could have given him more oportunities especially as we have been missing chances but thats just mine opinion.

Good debate but clearly no point in discussing further.
I don't think anybody thinks he should have made 30 starts or anything do they but there have been plenty of times this season when there would have been no harm throwing him on for 20 mins to see if he could sniff out a goal but he just remained on the bench. I think it was Watford (?) at home where it became blatantly obvious that he didn't have much of a future under Pep. He was the only fit striker, we were playing a very average team at home and not only did he not start but he didn't even get off the bench. I remember that night thinking that if I was Kelechi I would have stuck in a transfer request the next day for the January window. Whenever I have seen him recently he looks like he has lost his confidence which isn't surprising given that it is clear the manager has no confidence in him. He needs to move and get regular football and I think he will end up being a very good player indeed. It's fair enough, Pep presumably doesn't rate him and it is his neck on the line if things don't work out but it is still frustrating to see an excellent young player get so little time and I never thought that Pep would give him less time than Pellegrini did. I thought Pellegrini was terrible for the young players at City.

Is it? I remember a Kelechi at the start of the season that was getting regular game time, was scoring and creating goals and didn't look remotely out of place. The Kelechi that is being described here is the one that gets 5 mins every half a dozen games.

But hey you just cant see the bigger picture like some on here. Are you sure you are not out to just knock the manager ;-)

Same. I honestly thought Pep would be fantastic for Kelechi, I never envisaged him going backwards under him.
