So is he signed and just not allowed to play in England or is he not a city player at all?
there is a pre contract agreement, which will turn into a normal contract when he turns 18 in October. City just need to get work permit now.

Therein lies the problem, we have had a series of young African lads sign but in the absence of a work permit they have been farmed out elsewhere, often to Scandinavia. Eventually the lack of a work permit means they leave the club. The rules are stringent, even for what looks to be an serious talent like this.

That's my worry too.

Perhaps we should ask for UEFA's backing.........?

I'm pretty confident t's not because of a lack of work permit that these lads go to Stromsgodset etc, it's because they are totally unproven & in most cases nowhere near good enough.

We are finding them careers in football, whilst waiting for the one or two gems to appear. Those are the ones we will seek work permits for, I'm sure. If we kept asking for work permits for loads of African kids, then they would certainly turn us down. We can show that we have not been making frivolous applications so when a genuine talent does arrive, we are very likely to get a permit.

Did any of you guys notice how much muscle mass Iheanacho has gained in the past year? Also seems to have grown a few centimeters (at the U17 World Cup he had 177 cm, while Transfermarkt has him at 185 cm) and aged (from a boy to a man). Was a scrawny little kid just last year.

I think we can put all the 'age cheat' theories aside.

If United had got him he would have been another youth player off the production line, and all over the media. Arf!
