Kelechi Iheanacho

Seen lots saying Bony would have been crucified for that performance. Whilst Nacho didn't have a good game (who did?), he was clearly angry at himself for every missed chance or poor pass. Contrast to Bony who seems to just roll his eyes when he misses and walk back into the action.

I bet Kelechi's gutted there isn't another game next week in which he could make amends and that hunger, combined with his extraordinary talent, will make us a very very good player. Any player in the world can have a bad game or two, especially a player who's still a teenager.

For all Manuel's failings I think he's handled this lad excellently. He's going to be a class player but can't just be chucked into tough games week in week out.
which is what ive been saying from day one.confidence is everything for a young player and no way should this kid have been thrown to the lions earlier in the season when a dip in form would have had such a detrimental affect on his bright future. Its quite clear Manuel knew exactly what he was doing in managing our bright young talent carefully into first team football and the fact that he has avoided injury and burn out and been able to contribute at the business end of the season by scoring the decisive goal in our last match says everything about how to handle a young exciting, but still raw talent.
Well played Manuel.

Spot on. The lad shows he cares, and that is how you learn.

I can't believe some of the comments on here. The lad is what....20 with little 1st team experience and some are moaning about him. Probably the same people who moaned at Pellers for not playing more youngsters this season.

Nacho is learning his trade and the signs are excellent. He will be even better once coached correctly

I think the way lukaku developed at Everton in his first season will help kelechi ..next season , he will again play along with kun or fill up for him as backup..if he plays a full season at another mid tier premier league club , he will get a very good exposure ..but I am not sure whether as a team can afford that .we don't have that depth . but the guy needs a full season of first team football for polishing .

Blue moon Rising

You know why I know he's a talent? His goal scoring record this season. You can't ask for more from a lad making his first steps in the premiership. Particularly in a poorly managed team with sometimes baffling tactics, struggling to meet high expectations.

As Shearer pointed out on MOTD - he instinctively knows where to be in the box - the key quality of a striker.

Sure, he really needs to work long and hard on his right foot and technique. That's true of a lot of more experienced and highly rated players. He's young enough for good coaching to take hold.

If he has the character then I'm sure he's got a big chance of becoming a great player for us and I'm excited for him and us.

I'm excited to see his development under pep. I hope him and Aguero gel better and there is no ego protection and name making from ether of them.
What a fantastic find by our scouts!

Has this been merged with the Rashford comparison thread? I was hoping all the people telling me how much of a donkey Rashford is and how technically amazing Nacho is could of commented on that display yesterday. Many thanks

So, because Iheanacho didn't have the best of games yesterday you want an apology or just to be acknowledged as a know all?

Sorry if I have misread your intentions and come over defensive but I am sick and tired of people on this board banging on about Iheanacho 'woeful' display despite him scoring he crucial goal and generally having a decent game

If any other youngster in Europe had scored 14 goals in the mins/matches he has had we would have people on this board demanding we pay whatever it takes to bring him in.

Young players make mistakes, he is worth the mistakes for his long term and current ability

Feel like hes been trying a bit too hard in the past 2 games, needed to keep it simple but what a talent and I'm really excited for his future

No mate, in the thread that's been lost in here I got told how it was harder to perform against lesser opposition (fuck knows how) when my only point was Rashford had done it in much bigger games. Everyone said how Nacho is a better footballer etc which all might to turn out to be true. Which I hope and for what it's worth for me he has been one of our very few shining lights this season.

Yesterday for me was awful though, decision making was shocking, finishing very poor and the only credit you can give him on the goal is his positioning. Instinctively he looks amazing, when he has to think like the 2/3 times he went through on goal he looked slow and very indecisive. This will come with age I am very sure but it is all the niggly bits everyone wanted to miss when comparing with Rashford. As people have said if Bony had turned in that performance there would be war. Hopefully a one off and I cant wait to see his progress

And as has been pointed out, Bony is about 10 years older than him, so if Bony was making those sort of errors it would be cause for criticism

I think Nacho has been mismanaged, there have been plenty of opportunities to play him when the stakes weren't so high as they were yesterday, against Real Madrid and against Arsenal. I saw nothing in his games that another 10 games won't sort out

Aguero makes them sort of errors, not really an age thing knowing a pass is better than slipping on your arse from 25 yards out ;)

He probably has been mismanaged and there wont be much criticism from him on his performances this season, was a friendly pointer to his ultra defenders about his performance yesterday. I'm sure he will have a great future hopefully with us.
