Ken Bruce to leave Radio 2

Agree with all that. It is absolutely shocking inane drivel all day long. In the old days the djs actually had a great knowledge of music they played and weren't just celebrities brought in. I can't see the likes of Kay playing the Ozark Mountain Daredevils somehow ! Listened to Winkelman for about 5 mins sat morning and she just crapped on about nothing in particular. Had to turn off ! Ken was the only one worth bothering with.
Ssssh...I'm listening to Men From Earth at the moment...don't want everyone to know about them.

Many years ago, I remember a Radio 1 DJ announcing Dave McWilliams as Dave M.C. Williams. Ask you grandfather.

It comes to something that Tony Blackburn is probably the most R2 DJ left on the station and I think he is about to hit 80, I know he cracks some right bad jokes but it is all part of the act, his 60s show is always listenable while at work driving about.

The ex R1 lot are okay, I liked Mills back in the day he had some good extra stuff akin to mark and lard at his peak but he is has struggled to move on, love ya mwah.

Cox is still decent but I don't really listen to the radio at that time of day.

Ball is still trying to be something she never was, not that I hate her tbh but is worse just to be not bothered at all?

Vine has turned into the vilest sneerimg bloke on TV or radio and I include Morgan in that statement, in fact this **** is one of the reasons I ended up switching to R4.

R4 now gets on my tits the wanna be paxman style interviews just get on your nerves when it is the same thing everyday and we all know once the interview is finished they will appologise of air and arrange to meet for drinks later.

I listen for an hour catch up on the news and they turn to my iPod to keep me sane for the other 11 hours of work.

He'll be missed - one of the last of the old guard but I won't be following him to Greatest Hits radio...listened to it the other day...one song then 5 minutes of adverts and charity appeals. Big shame he's leaving - a big pile of dross now inhabiting Wogan House.

I'd be interested to know what Radio 2 consider to be their target audience these days
Radio 1 have previously acknowledged that their target audience is under 25s, so I assume Radio 2 is targeted at over 25s. But what is the target upper age limit?
Personally I think the BBC are missing a trick. Keep Radio 2 for the 25-50 age range, and start a new station (7?) for those who like familiarity and want to listen to 60s, 70s & 80s popular music.
Myself, I'm 51 & enjoy the mix of old and new alternative music on 6Music, as I still like to be exposed to quality new music.

Doubtful in their current financial state the BBC will be starting any new stations.

Think I read the other day Ken Bruce is getting shed loads more to join another station (Greatest Hits) I think - not sure why BBC are getting so much stick in letting him go
