Kevin De Bruyne - 2016/17 performances

I think when we play with so many pacy players up front, having De Bruyne a bit deeper is a good way to go. He has the ability and vision to release Sane and Sterling very early (if they make the runs). I feel like the longer we take in the build up, the less effective our wide players become because they just have less space to run into. De Bruyne must be one of the very best in the World at delivering early balls.

He thrived yesterday because Pep didn't stick him on the wings. Said it in the post match thread, if we don't go 3 at the back, we have to go 4-1-4-1 from now on. That way we can have proper wingers and KDB Silva central.

Kevin needs to play in the centre, feeding Sane, Jesus & Aguero. Sterling too if he gets game time which he surely will.

He plays a wonderful cross, devastating even, particularly from the right.

A joy to watch.

Best game i can remember from him defensively, was successful in the tackle and was intercepting/blocking passes all over the pitch. Should play CM all the time if he's going to regularly bring that side of his game on top of his attacking qualities.

well played Kev, and his goal a textbook example to any kid playing who wants to be a striker or attacking mid: ALWAYS follow seemingly lost causes.

He's our best player and while Silva flatters to deceive sometimes this guy delivers end product with killer passes, Beckham-esk crossing, great dead ball striking and world class long range shooting too. Has it all imo.

Yep and the one needs to be Yaya and not Fernandinho because he reads the pass so much quicker. It's a gamble but one we have to take now as this shite defence is going to continue shipping goals so we need to score more.

While I agree he is our best player (for now), I don't know what value insulting an all time great brings to your point :(

It's the "sectarian argument" trend--you can't enjoy and revere two things at once. It has to be one or the other, or you have no credibility now.

For some reason, rational understanding has become uncouth.

Felt sorry for Kev as nobody had even commented on his thread yet post-West Ham. A much needed goal tonight, good to see him back on the scoresheet. Less onus on him to score goals than last season, but great for his confidence. I just love having KDB, Silva and Yaya behind the 3 speed merchants.

I thought he was brilliant tonight and probably just edges my vote for MOM. The quality of his early passing is on a different planet.

You give him and Silva runners in front of them and it's near enough impossible to stop us.

Which is why him & Silva need to play in the roles they played today (and through most of our 10 match winning streak). Gundogan coming in pushed one of them out wide, now Fernandinho is back it will be interesting to see what happens - I doubt it will happen again given that our wingers are playing so well, but hopefully he sticks to the Silva/De Bruyne in front of either Fernandinho/Toure with pacey wingers out wide rather than changing the formation.

Good to see him back in the goals, with his shooting ability he should be hitting double digits really by the end of the season.

Yeh I couldn't agree more, I've made the same point myself dozens of times on here. There are so many casual observers that say DeBruyne and SiIlva can't play together, but our very best performances have come when they both play in the middle with one behind. We look a completely different side when we play 433 and these two are absolutely key to that.

If Pep keeps playing in the middle, there's no reason why Kev couldn't keep up his level of performance. He's the very best in playing that super early pass which is essential for our pacy wingers because it gives them time and space to go for the ball, instead of receiving the ball at the last second.

Pep's sustained energy and vision from the middle of the park does allow Kev to express himself, I agree.

de bruyne so effective when he have many option to pass upfront.
i'm glad to see him play freely as number 8, not as false 9 like that Barca game.
i never want to see that tippy tappy sideways pass tactic ever again.
