the time of kick off is a big advantage for teams knowing what is needed and if you play the late kick off knowing what happen already the pressure is off or it could go the other way and the pressure is pumped up and get to the players
I don't know how the stats stand up to it but I bet its better for the top clubs
(so called top 4) and we all know what happen to united when on the final day all the teams kicked off at the same time man city nicked it off them
I would say if united had the late or early kick off on that day they would have won 10.0 to pump up the goal differents

Sky pump however many millions into the game on the basis of having X amount of games shown. If everyone kicked off at 3pm and they were allowed to show only one game, that would be not many games shown each season, including mid week games (presumably you want them kicking off on the same day at the same time too?)
Therefore the amount Sky (or whoever) would bid for the right to screen games would be way less.

so fucking what?
the poor players would earn a few hundred grand less as tv deals were slightly less lucrative but would remain multi-millionaires
fuck me how would we mere supporters sleep at night?

Calm down! I'm on your side, just saying that is why the games are not all kicking off at the same time, not saying I agree with it!

What tuesday/wednesday ban?mancity1 said:Games at different times for TV broadcasts are big business now , huge in fact and it will only get bigger.
Games at some stage will be spread across Friday to Monday or Saturday to Tuesday especially outside Chumps League games.
At some stage the Tuesday / Wednesday ban will be lifted as well as such.

Not sure about in England, but in Northern Ireland it was 2.30 just after the clocks changed and then 2.15 during November December January and then back to 2.30 before the clocks changed again, though as it gets darker in England (especially the south) earlier, I would imagine it would have been earlier.
I used to enjoy getting back to my dads car on the way back from an away game and being able to listen to the commentary from a division 1 game (no premier league and championship nonsense back then, just Divisions 1 - 4).
As to who gains the advantage in the variable kick-off times, surely that depends on how the team around you has done, Liverpool lose today and the sense of belief amongst our fans will rocket before our kick-off, liverpool win and it will be more subdued imho.
Was it Plymouth Argyle in a cup replay? Think it was held at that time of day because of the risk of power cuts.SaddleworthBlueRhino said:law74 said:gordondaviesmoustache said:What time did clubs kick off on a Saturday in mid-winter before floodlights were widely used.

I can remember being at school (St Edwards in the Kippax Car Park) when an fA Cup Match replay was being played and prior to Maine Roads Bigger floodlights. Must have been a 2pm KO because we were let out early. Straight out of school and straight under the turnstiles and into the Kippax. Now that's what you call an education.
