Kiev ban over turned

Think half that plane out of Gatwick will be City! Fair play to those who are making this their first Euro away day, in at the deep end! :)

Apparently a taxi from the airport to the city centre will cost about £7 one way, gonna be cheap as chips if we all bundle in various taxis together. What are people doing for currency? Think I'm just gonna make a withdrawal at an ATM in the airport, and try and just get enough to last the 2 nights. Will also have some Euros on me. If you go to a currency exchange place, keep the receipt otherwise you'll struggle to change it back.

Oh, and if anyone fancies the Chernobyl tour on the Thursday, here's the link to the company I'm booked with....https://chernobyl-tour.com/english/......granted, not everyones cup of tea but I don't see myself being back in Ukraine/Kiev anytime soon, and it should be pretty interesting.

Don't buy any underpants off them. CHERNOBYL FALLOUT!!!!!!!

Anyone staying in Hotel Ukraine and on that 03.10 flight with UIA from Gatwick, it might be worth getting in touch with them to ask about getting the room a bit earlier. They will try and sell you an early check in, but that's almost 30 Euros, so I declined that and asked if the cleaner could 'prioritise my room', and they've just replied today to say the room should be ready for between 11 and 12 for no additional cost. They seemed pretty reluctant to budge on the check in time of 14.00 (unless you paid), but the British charm has shaved a couple of hours off that time ;)

Driving but I live in Northampton. Spoke to someone on twitter who was getting the train from Picadilly though

First Capital Connect services run through the night, takes about an hour from St Pancras to Gatwick. Look for the trains heading to Brighton, no need to change en route. Ironically/weirdly, a 03.10 flight is much more convenient for me than a 7 or 8am flight :)
