Koeman to Everton

Saints have a style and appoint a manager and sign players who fit that style. This obviously make any transition period easier. Hopefully they'll do the same again.
No disrespect but, the big clubs like United, Chelsea and City (though may be not so much) just seem to get the big names at the time.

I don't think Hughes, Mancini or Pellegrini were big names at the time. In fact I know many opposition fans laughed.

However, Pep is another kettle of fish. He's not just a big name, he is huge and with his record, he is already one of the greatest managers ever. A bit hard to turn down really (in fact it's not us who would do the turning down)!

Hey, if he's been promised money to spend, and no loss of Everton's bright young things, then I'd suggest it's quite a big step up for him, not what I would think is 'short term gains'.

Hey, let Everton join the mega bucks party, why not? It just makes things even more interesting. Their fans have been a tad vociferous at our splashing of the cash, but so have a lot of others. They've got a lot of catching up to do to get top 4, because it's getting pretty congested up there (City, Arse, Chelsea, Spurs, Liverpool......the Filth.....all must fancy their chances next season (Leicester again?)).

You'll have to unearth another good manager. Any ideas?
Not a clue to be honest. Eddie Howe's been mentioned but, I think him and Bournemouth are a perfect match for each other. He left them for Burnley remember but, that didn't go very well for him.
I don't think Saints have been sitting on their backsides for the last few weeks in fact, I'd have thought they would have been looking at a replacement knowing Koemen was going at the end of this coming season anyway!
edit for missing word.

Mark Hughes I'll give you that's but, that's why I said no so much City. The other two were quite well known but.
Did Hughes and Pearce for that matter suit the style City were playing at the time and, will Pep suit now?
I don't really take much notice formations or playing styles. I just go to matches and cheer my team on and hope to be entertained!

I'm sure you've not forgotten, but Pearce and Hughes were both appointed before HRH Sheikh Mansour bought us.

Pearce had done well as Keegan's deputy and started well as boss, but his teams gradually became more and more defensive until we hardly ventured out of our own half. In his last season in charge, we didn't score any goals at CoMS (as it was then) after 1st January.

Hughes had done a good job with both Wales and Blackburn, but ultimately, wasn't up to the job of taking City to the top.

Mancini, on the other hand, was a proven winner with Inter.

There is no comparison between Hughes, Pearce and.....Pep. Will he suit our style? Hell yes.

Koeman was hardly an unknown.

Koeman is a big name in football but, I'd say more as a player than a manager. I bet only a few people would have know who he was managing before coming to Saint.
Anyway that wasn't quite the point I was making. It was more about getting big names whether they suit their playing style or not.
