Kolarov = another wait for a good city leftback

One cross yesterday when we had 4 players in the box was woeful. Hit 6 feet above anyone at 100mph. He shoots too often and overall along with boateng has been a poor signing for the money. We have spent a shit load on full backs in the last 3 years and still dont have a top quality one on either side.

we wouldn't have seen posts like these or threads like this if Carlos had hit home the most rudimentary of tap-ins, that went right between his legs, courtesy of a Kolarov corner.

This forum is dire when we lose.

Millwall is one of the biggest doomers on here.....only happy when moaning.

Can't believe what i'm reading on this site atm. I've been pretty critical on Kolorov since he arrived but you'd have to be blind to not notice he was head and shoulders the best player on the pitch yesterday. All our attacks were coming from his side, he was bombing up and down the line all match and put in some great crosses and corners (and a few poor ones to be fair) but I actually could see yesterday what we paid the money for and hope he carries on.

First and foremost our fullbacks need to defend, and be told to defend rather than bombing forward and leaving us exposed at the back because they are to slow to get back into position,Boateng was in Johnsons way nearly everytime we went forward yesterday when we have 2 wingers on you do not want 2 ringbacks you need 2 fullbacks.

I don't think Kolarov had a bad game yesterday got to say i've been a bit disappointed with some of his performances so far though he really doe's seem short of pace to me, and you can't stop people noticing it i'm afraid. It would be a pretty dull forum if everybody thought everything was sweetness and light after a defeat to a team playing badly. that said i think its a bit unfair to pin the blame on him alone for what happened at Villa, what doe's worry me a bit is that we seem not to have a player with real pace to get behind a decent defence and run away from defenders.
There's a difference between noticing his lack of pace and discussing that versus throwing a tantrum, acting the martyr, and lashing out at anyone that disagrees calling them brainwashed, non-critical buffoons.

Then you'll want to have a word with Bob about changing his formation and entire approach to the game. It's a fair point, though. It remains to be seen if we can win the league playing this style.

This is how Mancini wants them to play though, the wingers to cut inside i.e.Johnson and the fullback to provide the width. If we lose possession the DM's are there as cover.

For me there are slightly more positives than negatives regarding Kolarov so i will back him til the end of the season and see how it goes..

for me the two blocks he got in against wolves last week gave us the win and three points..
Oh and of course the goal against leicester was ok i suppose.
Or am i going too far back in the scheme of things ??

that's why we play 2 DM's (ok ok, 1 DM and 1 deep-lying CM). When you see Kolarov go forward, like he's 100% instructed to, and the opposing team starts a break, Nigel De Jong or Barry are there to cover him at LB, 100% of the time, like they are instructed to.
