Kolarov = another wait for a good city leftback

Because I dont believe you pay 16 million for a guy who can fucking take a decent corner

What has what he cost got to do with anything?

Is it your money? No? Then what he cost is irrelevent to the debate about his value as a player.

Would you play Jo ahead of Silva because he cost less?

Stop talking like we're a Sunderland or an Everton. The landscape has changed.

What? Your posts are getting worse. I dont disagree the landscape has changed, but does that mean there is no accountability or judgement anymore? Is it my money? What sort of fucking nothing point is that? No it's just my allegiance to City, and my right to acknowledge he is not a top left back and that Mancini has paid a price which doesnt reflect his ability.

Did he piss on your chips or something? you seriously dont like him. Im unsure as to wether he is the answer, il give him time before i judge but i do think yesterday was prob his best game for us attacking wise. His pace is slightly worrying. overall i say give the guy time.

I don't dislike him. I am making the point, that we (a) havent had a top left back for a LONG time, and based on Kolarov to date, we are going to continue to wait.

(B) He lacks pace defensively

(C) wastes possession by shooting from 40 yards on several ocassions during a match

But holy shit. He can take corners, and getting forward against a poor Villa side who we battered 4 weeks ago, makes him MOTM

easy tiger! i never said any of your A) B) C) points, just that u dont like him much. You say people are not engaging to what you say yet everytime someone else puts a point across you shoot them down. I AGREE i worry about his lack of pace, if he played against lennon we will be fucked.
But i trust bobby and he seems to like him, so il go with that.

oh and by the way ur point C) is aload of shit. you dont shoot u dont score! he shoots when there is nothing else on! At least he doesnt try walking it in like everyone else!

So you do think we'll get some goals as a result of his corners then?

We may well do yes. But that doesnt warrant the price we have paid for him surely, when his first job is to defend, and to repeat again, which people are just refusing to acknowledge, is he lacks pace, and so gets turned easily.
I'm not refusing to acknowledge it, I just don't think it's going to kill off his chances as succeeding as left-back. To my mind, his main problem was not pace yesterday but not blocking balls which he was in a position to do so. I believe that can be remedied at Carrington and some wise words from Mancini.

His last 3 games he's been one of our best players.

Was a constant attacking threat against Villa.

How can he have been defensively suspect against Villa when they spent almost the entire game defending? Kolarov was a big part of the reason why we pushed them backwards.

and that he is wasteful in possession in the final 3rd by having a license to shoot when he wants, which is detrimental to the team when building up attacks. Id rather us look for more tempo and penetration, without giving Kolarov a mandate to shoot whenever he wants to
I'd agree partly with this. He needs to learn when to shoot and when not to. However, of the four shots I remember, one was goal bound. He most definitely can hit the target and we shouldn't discourage him for going for the target altogether.

when you are chasing the game losing 1-0, it's critically important to not waste opportunities, because frustration and anxiety grow

Think about the best full backs in the world. Maicon. Roberto Carlos. Dani Alves. Ramos. All of those are better at attacking than defending. I'm certainly not saying Kolarov is as good as Roberto Carlos was in his pomp. I just find it harsh to have him criticised as much as he is. Yes, he can be weak defensively. It is harsh though that people are blaming him for the goal yesterday which came from the other side? He didn't stand off Young and allow him to get the shot away. He didn't push it straight into the path of Bent. He was our best outlet going forward for much of the first half and once he's properly settled in he'll produce the goods on a regular basis.

I agree with you in the sense that if Bobby trusts in him that I'm willing to for a bit longer, but honestly, he shoots far too often when there's better and easier passes on.

But then why aren't you lambasting the whole team, why just Kolarov? After this comment I fully expect threads on Dzeko, Tevez and Silva as a minimum.
