Kolarov Leaving?

Shay has a long-term shoulder injury, and our reserve goalkeepers are a tad wank. Mancini was not going to let a keeper crisis affect our run-in again, and that's if you believe the reports that he was looking for a keeper.

the goalkeepers mancini was after in january (viviano and marchetti) are both young and better than hart. surely not reserves.

No they aren't..you are underrating Hart very very much. It's almoste a disgrace. hart will be number 1 here for 10+ years...im sure.

He hasn't given us any reason to replace him. Why would we replace someone without a good reason? Especially a keeper.

there are the same chances of me underrating hart that of you overrating him.

Perhaps we should ask the footballers themselves what they think of Joe Hart then.

The first comment isn't Rooney talking about Hart. It's Hart being voted the best goalkeeper in the entire Premier League by his fellow pros last season. If not for Van Der Sar's wonder season this year he'd probably have won it again (him or Cech anyway) considering how few goals he's conceded.

And both Casillas and Buffon had no obligation to big up Hart - they could have bigged up, I don't know, random young Italian keepers who are supposedly better than Hart. Or Neuer. Or Loris. Or De Gea.

And these quotes by Casillas are hardly those of someone with a gun held to his head.

"I totally agree with Capello that Joe Hart can be up there with the best in the world," Casillas said.

"If I am being honest, over the last five years I don’t think there has been a keeper close to Gigi Buffon, or myself. But from what I have seen of Joe Hart, he really can be great.

"When Buffon and I are well into our thirties, Joe will be at his peak. And I expect him to be the No.1 keeper in the world. Everything he does is so natural and he has that goalkeeper’s instinct, which you can’t just learn.

Lol...they didin't just say: "yeah he is grea, now leave me"...

They spoke very much and very highly and both Casillas and Buffon believes Hart can be the best keeper in the world after a few years.

I woudl have him over Julio Cesar anyday of the week...did you see the mistake against Bayern and Schalke? LOll...Julio Cesar is absolutely crap keeper.

My grandma would have catched the one he conceeded against Bayern.

Crap keeper and he is Brazilian so there would be a big chance he would flop in england. NTY to Cesar.

I've stuck up for him a lot but he was dire at times against Blackburn. If he doesn't reverse the trend for the remaining games then I think the pressure on him will increase very rapidly.

not to mention his dropped bollock in the world cup.

I do like Cesar but we should not be buying another keeper.

If Kolarov goes in the summer I think we as a club and fans need to take a look at ourselves. He has not had a chance to lay down roots, hasn't played a full season but people are so eaten up with themselves that they will discard him without a second thought because he isn't good enough for us, when did we become so uppity. There will always be bigger and better out there but lets give the players we have a chance first. Kolarov hasn't been that bad and scored the goal that gave us the chance to stay in Europe.
Maybe he hasn't settled as quickly as some would wish but who's to say with a bit of time and believe he will next season. People moan about the need for team spirit etc but in the same breathe are quite happy to get rid of Dzeko, Boateng, Kolarov before they have played a full season. If we start this practice of shipping players out in this way, it just screams new money and no class imo.

this is how i feel about most of our acquisitions in the transfer market future and past; some people are very quick to just move on on a player when he doesn't immediately impress but realistically one season is needed AT LEAST so that said player can adjust to the pace of the team (and if they come from a different league like all the ones listed, maybe even more.)

well said.

Andouble said:
he'd excel in Italy where there generally isn't much pace and a lot of teams don't use both wingers and attacking fullbacks, something that often happens in England and why he's struggled so much to adapt.

correct.
i love kolorov, i love his application, i was very excited when he signed but sadly he has'nt cut it in the prem. he may well do if given another season but i doubt it.he may not be happy with his own game so if he goes back to italy and we sign a proven prem left back it might be best all round.
