But to answer his question, in my opinion, on his day Kolarov's crosses are exceptional. He's put in quite a few that were just 6 inches away from a player's foot and weren't capitalised on...probably because they were whipped in with so much pace.
But. When Kolarov isn't playing well, his crosses are some of the worst (think Liverpool first leg). Not Bebe bad though :-):

i always worry about Ak's defending.
but it's always better when de jong plays as we covers well and breaks up the play.

Maybe not, i'm only asking because of his assists yesterday. I much prefer City playing the short fast passing football and Clichy fits that bill well, but as far as whipping the ball in between the keeper and defenders he's got to be up there with the best!

The way i've made my judgement is how i'd feel when the teams are announced when the rags visit.
If I hear Clichy's name i'd feel confident, if I hear Kolarov's name I think i'd physically shit myself, that's the differance.

As you posted in the OP it's his defensive duties that are in question. Kolarov (imo) is a right place, right time kind of player, in the way that if we could bring him on for set pieces, or stick him in a fixed position on the left wing where he had to do little or no tracking back, or even create space, just be there, then he'd be perfect. When I watched him at Lazio he seemed to have quite abit of pace about him which is by and large gone now. Whether it be an old injury problem or confidence issues I'd love to see him bombing down that left flank a la Richards and whipping balls in. Nevertheless a great option to have in our squad. Yes, if the pattern continues into next season Kolarov might be able to start 3/4 of our home games where we have little defending of note to do. But in any situation where we need defensive strength and discipline, it has to be Clichy. Kolarov is surprising undisciplined for someone who has played in Serie A, where it is very tactical, and this is exposed against good teams. But he has his role as a rotation left-back, that's if he stays beyond the summer with Italian teams interested and possibly offering him first choice left-back spot.

Nah that's fair enough, there have been a number of times he's flashed them in I think there was one at Villa that went marginally wide (can't remember exactly now) so you have to think one will come along eventually. I just get a bit frustrated because he does actually have a really good delivery into the box on his day but just tends to shoot a lot or overhit the cross.

True, but with the way Mario and Edin finished and how Merlin controlls the ball it has to be with pace, don't forget the odd own goal!

His cross at qpr for yaya to score was spot on, myself personally I think we are being unkind to the guy, I like him he can be utilised never complains he won't be pushed around either, the move on Saturday from Pissarro kolorov the dzeko was sublime,
