understand what you are saying and don't disagree.

in my ideal world considering we get Toure and Lescott then my starting back 4 at Blackburn would be....

Toure.......Ned........Lescott.......Bridge

i just don't expect Hughes to have the same opinion as me.
Didn't know we were signing him as a right back.

don't think we are signing him as a right back tbh.

point being which funnily enough isn't rocket science to understand is that if Toure and Lescott play as centre halves then it means Micah or Zab will play right back - neither Micah nor Zab are anywhere near to the quality of Ned, and before some prick says "play Ned at right back" then don't waste your breath.

hence my point is that it is likely to be Ned on the bench which i will be gutted about as he is imo the future captain and centre half of the England team - that is how highly i rate Ned.

simples.

I agree re Ned but I still do not trust MH re including him in the Lescott deal - as far as I can see it MH is concerned about success NOW (i.e. top 4/6 this year, whatever the true target is) hence he wants players to do him a job NOW and he really wants Lescott - I doubt he REALLY cares about the academy players coming through unless he sees them as indispensable NOW, and shit I have just realised this is the Toure thread not the Lescott thread, sorry!

Don't think anyone's having a go at you mate, but you're clearly trying to shoe horn Ned into a starting line up that Hughes probably isn't even considering. Can't blame you for that, as you seem to rate Ned extremely highly, but it won't do him any harm to learn from a top player like Toure if he's prepared to stick around.

I think if we sign Lescott and Toure, the 2 centre backs will be hard to predict.

Ned was mint for the second half of last season and at right back he bombs forward and can be devastating.

As long as we don't get rid of Ned, Micah or Zab i will be happy, and we will have a mint defence with competition for places.

With Vince able to drop back as well, it'll make sure they're all fighting for a starting place.

I think the £15m and £16m being banded about is maybe a bit much for Toure, but to be fair we're going to have to pay a premium untill we're one of the best clubs in Europe.

He wasnt good enough to get in Arsenals team a few years ago and only because Arsenal has Senderos (who's shit) out on loan and Djourou (who also not that good) injured Toure found himself back in Arsnals team! I feel if Arsenal would have had any money over the last 2-3 years Toure would be well down the pecking order at Arsenal! When Arsenal were hammered at home to Chelsea 4-1 Toure was absolutely shocking!

Im very underwhelmed by this signing!

I can see if we get Lescott, it will be Lescott and Kompany as the 2 cetnre backs with Toure and Onuoha on the bench, within 3 months!

Get in mate, finally someone else on my wavelength. Toure is a 3rd/4th choice CB, Lescott and Kompany works well. You've just echoed everything I've said over the last god knows how many pages, nice one lad.

Doesn't matter what choice CB you think he is: he has averaged over 32 league games per season over the last seven seasons for a top four side. He went to the Champions League final with Arsenal. He will certainly improve our squad.

Agree about Ned, I think we should be looking for one player to compliment him in the middle and for a better right back as I don't rate either of our options there at the moment. I like Zab but he's a fill in utility man at best. Naldo, Lescott, Hangeland or Fazio would do for me!

Why do people say this???????? Yes we may have to pay a slight premium on wages due to not being established in top four, but that doesn't affect transfer fees. Why would Arsenal accept less money if we had won the league?
