Kolo Toure [Merged]

Agree, toure is a good signing. We need to build a team that is solid and are able to change games, ie. robbie, ireland tevez etc..
We are heading the right way for once, were getting stick from all corners because the are concerned and know we are going the right way in terms of team building.

Obviously the defence needs to be much improved from last season, but even without new additions, surely it will be better because with improved players up front like Tevez we will be able to start defending higher up the pitch, and other teams may be a lot more cautious going forward against us cos hopefully we will be able to hit them on the break better.

Signing Toure and Lescott will build on that.
Yep good point. The top teams all defend from the front. With the additions of Barry and Tevez working hard to regain possession for us high up, i believe the opposition will have a lot less chances to exploit us.

True, furthermore a fully fit Bridge will be better than last season when he admitted to being less than fully match fit due to his lack of games at Chelsea.
I also think Richards will be much better as his form towards the end of the season suggested.

lol, They are about 2 hours behind! He left the hospital to go to the hotel around 2pm.....not sure what time he got to the stadium, but SSN are miles behind!

No change there then!!
Any idea when the deal might be completed? Today ??

Should be today, depends if they can get it sorted. If they are at the stadium now then it should get done before he goes back to the hotel.

Kolo Toure has passed his medical at Eastlands.

The Arsenal defender's £15million transfer to Manchester City now appears a formality.

The 28-year-old is believed to have agreed a £120,000-a-week deal deal after Arsene Wenger confirmed Sportsmail's exclusive story that the Ivorian is the latest big name player to leave the club this summer joining Emmanuel Adebayor.

'We will see what's happening in the next 24 hours, nothing is decided yet,' said the Frenchman.

Shake on it: Arsenal defender Kolo Toure arrives in Manchester to undergo a medical ahead of his £15million switch to Manchester City

'We have seven centre-backs and I am in the position where I have to play some in midfield but of course Kolo is a very good player and we will see what will happen in the next 24 hours.'

New boy: Thomas Vermaelen

Toure played for Arsenal on Monday night in a pre-season friendly in Hungary. The move would take City boss Mark Hughes' spending close to the £100million mark.

But the spree will not stop there, with Everton defender Joleon Lescott and West Ham's Matthew Upson also in their sights, while reports in France link them to Roma's Philippe Mexes.

Arsenal by contrast have made just one signing, central defender Thomas Vermaelen from Ajax, and have also sold Emmanuel Adebayor to City for £25m.

Wenger hinted that he will make more signings before the transfer window closes.

'I am more focused on getting everybody fit for the start of the season but we are looking at opportunities as well,' he said.

'There are still some pre-season games to see what we really need. When the time comes we will do something.'

youve had your say.... i dont agree with it.... but your entitled to your opinion... but stop being so abusive pal

WOW these Arsenal fans on talksport arent happy!! they must not be the ones that AntMCFC knows!! lol

also has Ian Wright forgotten that his son plays for us cos he doesnt seem happy that the team his son plays might vertake his old team!! strange!!

Toure is an absolute QUALITY signing - if some wish to be so negative and pessimistic then let them! I recall being over the moon when he got vonk and gerard wiekens - this is a DEFINITE improvement on what we have - who cares about the cost - not your own money!!! He is a quality centre back and an extremely accomplished defensive midfielder and his opta stats show that he has something like an 86% accuracy rate on all passes! That's good enough for me!

16.27 Sky Sports News understands Kolo Toure has passed his medical with Manchester City, but the deal is being held up as he attempts to negotiate a severance package with Arsenal.

Why wouldn't they agree that before agreeing a fee, personal terms and sending him for a medical?!
