Kolo Toure [Merged]

They've just said SSN that he's been with Arsenal for nine years, which surprises me. Not that it matters.
Either way, he isn't the answer to our defensive prayers, I don't care what anyone says.

I think Toure would be an excellent addition rather like barry is. We would get a solid week in week out performance giving us consistency which we lacked at times last year, Nedum excepted.

I think these deals speak volumes about the depth of Arsenal's financial problems but also the way they are facing up to them. Arsenal want to manage their debt while Man Yoo and Liverpool seem to want to pretend it aint there. Could Liverpool afford to pay £17m for Glen Johnson - regardless of whether he was worth it - they simply did not have the money but have added to their debt mountain to keep the fat spanish waiter happy. Toure is a great deal for us but probably for Arsenal too.

I know you can edit the info on there but Wikipedia says he plays for us.

Well maybe not Pam but he is a stepping stone to making progress in the league. Is he better than our current CBs ? imo yes he is, been in the prem at the top end for a good number of years, has pace and decent in the air, can organise and thats is what we also lack at the back. Personally its too much cash but then again ever deal we do (bar BArry actually) will continue to be like that for us now.

Overall for me he is a good signing if it happens and will certainly add competition to the squad, which we need.

I hope you're right, Mark.

must be gettin close.... shit if we get Toure for 15m and bought Ade for 25m Wenger boyz has made a modest jump from spending 4m on the 2 to bringing in 40m for them !!!

I thought Adebayor cost £7m?

whilst I accept our situaiton is different now because of the financial power, we stil need to make that step from, lest face it, an upper/mid table team to one to seriously challenge the Top 4. Toure has experience and the ability. He has cleasrly been unhappy at Arsenal last season with his run ins with Gallas and revovery from Malaria but if he partners say NEd or VK or another then we will see week in week out a consistent level of performance just as we will with Barry. I think this was mentioned by another post in the last page or so too.
