I am trying to work out how having a large bottom stops you being a decent footballer.
Is there anyone with knowledge of physiology who can explain it please

I don't think anyone has said that having a large bottom would automatically stop you from being a good footballer but I think generally it isn't going to increase a player's mobility. I don't think it is unreasonable to expect a professional athlete who is getting paid hansomely to be able to keep his weight at an appropriate level. I have had a bit of grief over my comments but I honestly think he was overweight for a prem footballer in that Liverpool away match and I don't think that is acceptable. If a player happens to be in poor form then that happens from time to time and is understandable but I don't think any Premier League footballer should have weight issues because that is something that is very much within their own control.
Given the amount of weight clubs no give to sports science, nutrition etc etc how can you assume just by looking at somebody they are overweight. Us humans have different body shapes and he may will be at his optimum according to the experts. I also think with the constant monitoring the experts do, a player who was overwieght would be nowhere near the team.
It does amuse me how much people say players look overwieght, lazy, tired blah blah without any chance of knowing the actual facts. It is all assumption and usually i find assumption to be biased towards a persons personal perception of a player.
Kolo was in his time a world class centre half, his powers have diminshed as all players do with age, but he still commands i feel the respect of his teamates and without our leader and inspiration Vinny on saturday Kolo did a great job with a kid besides him. He should be recognised as having played very well and we should appreciate the fact we have somebody as capable to step in when needed.
