Kompany "allegedly" out for 3-4 weeks (merged)

As much as I hate losing VK for any games, and as good as he was last night, I thought JoLo was outstanding too.

I feel our defence is in safe hands while he is around, though I do concede we need someone better than Garcia alongside him.

Nastasić must be near to fitness, and if all else fails, I would play Micah against Cardiff.

Sad that our Captain is out for 3/4wks. I would have given JO Lescott MOTM last night he played his socks off had a good game, but he always does in my opinion.

As good as we are likely to be playing a high line against Cardiff. I cannot see any way we can keep a clean sheet with a CB pairing of Lescott and Garcia. I can live with Lescott, but Garcia god no!! :-(

Micah Richards please stand up its time to show the world that you are englands best defender and your last chance is right now

sad loss if true but we wait from the OS to put it to press then the manager can work is magic on the other players who will come in

The only bad point of the game, for me.

We were fannying around with possession and that ultimately got Kompany injured as we lost the ball after 30 seconds of pointless little three yard passes that got us absolutely nowhere, Ameobi broke away and Kompany had to cover for Yaya, Navas, Nasri and Fernandinho's stupid passage of play and put in a sliding tackle that hurt his groin.

It was completely preventable had we had our heads screwed on with the ball for that short space of time.
WTF?

Isn't Richards injured too? A real lack of pace in our back line if we play Lescott and Garcia. Zabaleta isn't quick either so it leaves us quite open to the counter attack if we play a high line. Perfect Bellamy territory! I'm sure we will cope, might be too soon for Nastasic as well. Maybe Pellegrini will line up a bit more defensively away from home anyway to provide cover. Would have been ideal to start the season with a consistent side to get some form going.

Bad news but could be worse. Vinny was incredible again last night.

I'd say he's the best centre half in the world now.

That was back to the Vinny of old. Played with a great desire and a point to prove. Look forward to seeing much more of that

Agreed. He must have been really affected last season by the whole Mancini saga. He was back to his immense best last night.

Lescott did his defending brilliantly, but he gave away the ball numerous times in dangerous areas. Better teams would have made more of those mistakes. He's a liability when the ball is at his feet.
