Easily for me. Only defender i've ever seen play for us who is genuinely world class

Could have sworn one was a midfielder and the other two were full backs.
Dave watson for me too, mike Doyle was great too (his position at the time was "right-half"(no4) though) Vinny is right up there though & will probably surpass the others in the next couple of years

Doyle was at least equal to Watson in my eyes, Book give him the man-marking job on McDonald in '76 and Watson picked up Gowling. Gowling scored and McDonald could'nt loose his shadow (@the time Malcolm McDonald was a feared 11 second 100 metre free scoring striker). Doyle was down his earhole all match, McDonald was parrot at the death.

The best centre back I've seen in a city shirt was Dave Watson but for me Kompany is better.

Vincent has got a long long way to go to be given the honour of beingon this list. He's one of my favourite players, he's one of our best players, he's one of the best centre backs around at the moment, but come on he's been here five minutes and we've achieved nothing with him there...YET! I say yet because I believe Kompany should be our captain and be the man who will lift our trophies in the coming years. He will be right up with the bet on that list though.

(He's better in quality than the last three, but not in terms of club stature)

Sat next to Andy at a game this year with his lad, didnt realise it at the time he played but still blue and bringing his lad up right.

In my time I struggle to think of many good centre halfs. Mick McCarthy wasn't bad (great at heading out corners and crosses) and Daniel Van Buyten was brilliant for his grand total of 5 games. Then when I started thinking of Gerard Wiekens, who at least showed occasional moments of skill, I start to realise where our recent problems arose. As for best ever I think they must have been well before my time.

I idolised Dave Watson as a kid.
A bit older Mick McCarthy and Tommy Caton
Keith Curle was immaculate.
Distin was a great centre half too.
Kompany in time could be the best in my lifetime.
