Yes it was just really bad luck. Very brave of him as he knew he was going to get hit. Not clear how long he is going to be out for.

One promising thing is that his calf seems to have held up since his come back. This was a total freak, but it wont stop some making the most of it.
 
We've tried finding a replacement for years and spent over £100 million on defenders doing so and are still no closer finding anyone even half as good as he was.

This is also a damn good point for those so eager for a replacement....there aint many that are any where near as good.
 
Koscielny for a couple of seasons?
Vermaelen?
Dare I suggest, Smalling? Out of favour with the rags, and a bloody good defender if you can see past him being a rag ****. Tevez was also once a rag **** and that turned out pretty well.
Any of Bayern's centre backs that Pep will obviously know.
 
I'm guessing Pep will give him every chance this year and depending on who is available in the summer and/or one of the kids moving up, next year Vinny would be fighting for a spot. Sorry I'm not up to speed on Vinnys contract, but that would obviously effect his situation

He has a contract until 2019.
 
If it's deemed Tosin is nowhere near ready,which would appear to the case,then its a necessity we attempt to find a replacement asap.

Popular opinion would suggest VVD is the best option.

It's ironic that when VVD played at Celtic alongside Jason, it was Jason that was widely recognised as the better prospect and footballer

He might still be, there's a world of difference between 21 and 25 if you're a centre half.
 
I really don't see Vinnie making much of a come back now, he must be soul destroyed at it. Even when he does get fit, there is so much uncertainty around when he will break down again, its doing no one any good. Not sure what the solution is, coaching role? ambassador for the club? Let him leave on a free and see if he can play somewhere else? Does Pep even want to keep him? So many unknowns.

I think it's been coming for a while,tbf pep did try to get Laporte and Bonnuci in the summer with no luck,hope he has others in his sights
I don't want this to be the end for vinny but i honestly don't know how much more he can mentally take with all this
 
If this is true we need a centre half who is already playing in the prem, maybe a cheeky bid for one either Alderweireld or Koscielny??
