Kompany injured again...

Can't believe people questioning why we played him last night. He is the captain, Leader of the group, One of the best defenders on the planet. Do you think he would want to sit on the bench. He has only played 17 games this season. Judging by how he did it last night, he could have done that walking to the shop getting his morning paper.

Unfortunately for him he has a problem, I don't think his calf can deal with the demands that are being put on him, but I'm no medical expert.

Sums it up perfectly.

Kompany only played 12 full league games this season .
His worst before that was last season , and 2010-11 season with 25 games .
You can't have a leader missing two thirds of a season .
And hope to win trophies .

Maybe, but I think we should expect the other players and the manager to be able to cope much better than they do when he's not there. Winning trophies is not the issue for the rest of this season IMO, they need to be able to finish in the top 4 and that shouldn't be an unreasonable expectation even if he has missed two thirds of the season. But at the moment it feels like an unreasonable expectation to me.

He will not be let go as he is too important to the club but we may not be seeing him playing much, better management might help him play
He said in the programme that he hadn't time to be eased back in,he needs holding back and playing less, lets hope that works

Of course he didn't have time to be eased back in because we are such an utter shambles without him. And that is the main issue here. I know he is a fantastic defender and leader but taking him out shouldn't mean certain defensive failure but it does tend to. I don't see why we can't cope better when he's not there, naturally you'd expect things to not be as good when he's missing but the drop off is just unacceptable. We have scouted and paid a lot of money for defenders who were supposedly going to suit the system and be high enough quality. It reflects so badly on so many people that the presence of one player is so essential to make the whole thing even approaching functional. And this situation of constant injury is going to keep happening until we can stop being so reliant on him.

Rushing him and over playing him has worked really well, thats mp for you,too much "trust" in players.I'm hopeful if pep decides how he is managed and not vinny himself we will get to see him play
I agree the recruitment of defenders has been bad although i will give nico some leeway with it being his first season.it's clear we have focussed too much on attacking both in recruitment and when we play and that is coming home to roost, scrape top 4 and let pep sort it all out

I think there are possibilities that Mangala and Otamendi might prove to be ok under different instruction. But who knows.

Fair play to people if they said it before hand, but too much like hindsight really. Had we conceded early and he not been on the pitch imagine the uproar.
I never expected him not to play.
Silva on the other hand...should have rested him.
