Kompany red card and appeal SUCCESSFUL

Great news! I didn't think it was a red card but I didn't think they would reverse the decision.

And some people on bluemoon were saying that we shouldn't appeal.
Some were saying he was a twat for making the tackle!

he's not a twat for making the tackle, but I hope he doesnt keep doing that type of tackle as he will get sent off again for doing so - from Mike Deans viewpoint it didnt look good

Well I hope he does this type of tackle every week. It's what great centre backs do and it means some sort of sanity has prevailed. For that type of tackle to result in a ban would sterilise the game completely and make it preferable to watch coffins warp. Not the refs fault, he wasn't looking from the side.

Really pleased that has happened, and I didn't think we'd have a feline's speculative opportunity in hades of getting it overturned.

I know it was a good tackle, but at real speed and at the time it looked a bit reckless which VK sometimes looks like he's being. I'd be happier if he didn't launch himself like that, as it always gives the ref a chance to penalise him, even if its perfectly timed.

And thankfully it only happened at 78mins when we were 2-0 up, so no real damage done. 3 points in the bag and the captain available for the weekend. Sorted.

I must admit I thought it was a silly tackle at the time and it wouldn't of been overturned like the one in the FA Cup last season, but it is good to see that common sense has prevailed.
But it wasn't even a foul, you can't have players worried about making tackles just in case the referee might try to level things up if the ball is there to be won, win it, and that is what Vinny did, that is why the appeal has been successful, the tackle in the FA Cup was totally different, consisted of 2 feet and there was enough doubt in that tackle in support of the referee, the tackle Sunday there was no doubt as it was a perfect example of a sliding tackle when viewed from the side

But it is being questioned in Modern Football. 40 years ago it would of been accepted, and players such as Tony Book would of gone about their business without much contention. Don't get me wrong I am delighted it has been rescinded but I am hoping we don't give the rest of the Clubs a big stick they can beat us with.
