Kompany red card and appeal SUCCESSFUL

Re: Kompany red card and appeal

Never, ever a red card. Not even a foul in my book, he won the ball cleanly.

We won't win but it should be appealed so at least Dean will have to explain his decision again and clarify exactly what the fuck is allowed these days. It's all getting very pathetic.

Re: Kompany red card and appeal

inb4 frivolous appeal, out for the extra game (Liverpool).

I have actually counted how many times I have seen it on the sky coverage. Twelve - and I cant make my mind up if it was a "Red" or not but I wouldn't appeal. Its been shown from three camera angles;

1. Good tackle
2. A bit debateable
3. Both feet off the ground

The appeal panel will always go for number 3 to defend their Referee.
It won't go to a panel though. It will go back to the referee who should change his mind having seen he clearly got it wrong.
Dreamland mate.
We'll see. Dean's a good ref and will see that he clearly got that one wrong. Its about as far away from being a red card as you can get, not even debatable. I'll lose even more faith in the game if that stands.

Re: Kompany red card and appeal

Appeal the card.Atleast show the ****'s that we won't just shut up and take it.

Re: Kompany red card and appeal

Well worth an appeal. Probably get us nowhere but we need to appeal that.

Re: Kompany red card and appeal

Should also say that I don't think Dean made a horrendous decision, just a bad one - he was undone by the viewing angle that he had, and the ridiculous reaction of the crybaby Arsenal players.

I assume he will be big enough to admit he got that one wrong.

Re: Kompany red card and appeal

Refree's case and defence:
He was directly in front of the incident and from his perspective it seemed to be a two footed challenge with studs showing. Wilshere's reaction only substantiated that impression

Reality:
Another fantastic, skilful ( perhaps a little bit flamboyant) tackle by our captain who was absolutely dominant today until that incident. He should be complimented if anything.
A 3 game ban for that play will be nothing short of .......(fill in the big words)

Judgement:
Rescind the ban.

Milner:
Immense.

That is all.

Re: Kompany red card and appeal

The appeal has to be frivolous which this wouldn't be. If we were playing Liverpool next and they thought we were doing it just so he could play in that, then he'd get the extra game if the card was upheld. As we risk losing him it can hardly be classed as frivolous I would have thought.

At one stage 2 feet were off the floor so there is not a chance it will get rescinded. If 2 feet leave the floor at the same time at any point then you've got no arguments. Absolutely stupid from Kompany as the ref was always going to be waiting to even it up. Needless tackle to lunge into.
I agree with this, there was no need for it. As a player you can't give these refs any excuse to even it up. Swallow it and move on, we will cope.

There is nothing whatsoever in the laws of football about "two feet leaving the floor". That's a caveat that seems to have been invented by media pundits and then regurgitated by all and sundry.

Re: Kompany red card and appeal

Kompany has just commented on Twitter. Implication is that he'll be appealing the red card.

Re: Kompany red card and appeal

We'll lose, but there's no way they can call that frivolous.

Re: Kompany red card and appeal

As far as I could find this is the rule
"A player who jumps into a tackle two-footed is not in control of himself and therefore if he makes contact with the player, ball and player, or if the referee determines there to be excessive malice in the challenge, he will be dismissed"

It clearly shows from the side view that it wasn't a 2 footed tackle (1 footed, he hit the ball, the other player fell over by himself and I don't think there was malice). It should be overtuned. The ref had a poor view of it. It probably won't happen though.

I don't know why they would look at any other view, side view shows what happened best. The ref was at a poor angle to see what actually happened. Not his fault you can't be in the best place at all times.

thats a bloody good point tbh

Re: Kompany red card and appeal

I honestly think dean will have a look and say he got it wrong as well.

Re: Kompany red card and appeal

All this hot air on Sky about it being a red card from different angles when one clearly shows it was not. In other sports, when they use video evidence, they look for the one example which shows that the try was scored, the ball was caught, the serve was in etc. Why on earth do we have to see three obscure angles when one shows one foot leading and winning the ball.

Unfortunately, sky want him banned, it makes for good headlines and they can milk it for a few days.

Re: Kompany red card and appeal

The Bassong challenge on Nasri was far worse.

Regardless of whether it was a red or not, Vinny did not need to make such a challenge and give the ref the option to send him off.
