Kudos to Beckham

Watch out! Don’t do your good deeds publicly, to be admired by others, for you will lose the reward from your Father in heaven. When you give to someone in need, don’t do as the hypocrites do—blowing trumpets in the synagogues and streets to call attention to their acts of charity! I tell you the truth, they have received all the reward they will ever get. But when you give to someone in need, don’t let your left hand know what your right hand is doing.Give your gifts in private, and your Father, who sees everything, will reward you. Matthew 6:1-4

Vanity is a deadly sin.

Now where's my brylcreem?

Giving money to charity = keeping brand Beckham alive = retaining sponsorship deals for watches, underpants & hair gel = more money than he would have given to charity.

Not that I'm cynical or anything ......... and I'm sure there is a nice tax angle related to charity donations.

will his image rights be going to charity, its a tax fiddle

What a hero, how's he going to cope??

And why did he feel the need to broadcast his 'gesture'......?

One big fuck off publicity stunt for the entire circus.
We agree!

Beckham long ago ceased to be a creditable footballer and became along with his wife, one big money making machine with fingers in every pie.Good luck to him on that score we all try and make as much money as we can and have a good life.

I don't like him as a man,but i base this only on what i watch and read in the media so that is probably a bit unfair and because he played for the rags.

I dislike him because he epitomises your typical rag fan only he went on to play for them.Brought up in Essex yet supported the rags,it figures.I don't expect him to say good things about us, but he has never wasted any opportunity to take the piss and trash us in every interview he has been asked to give his opinion on our club.

Everything he does is about furthering his brand and paving the way to a knighthood we know is inevitable,as would have been Giggs if he hadn't shagged his brothers wife.

Giving his wages to charity is a nice act, except he broadcast it before the world's media to gain more brownie points, which kind of makes me feel a little sick.He won't miss the money as he is a multi millionare,it means more when the guy on a minimum wage gives a tenner to charity, but of course he will never make the news or receive an honour.

Wonder what's happening to his image rights? It's a nice gesture and it should do a lot of good but it's all about keeping his name in the papers, there was no need to tell people, just do it.
He's even been on tv telling us its never been done before.
Say's he got to brush up on his French (she's probably been telling the twat that for years)
Give it a week and he'll make Joey Barton sound like David Ginola.

And the latest in, I suspect, a never ending line of self promotion in his pathetic attempt to be awarded a knighthood. Nobody has been this blatant about it since Donald Sinden.

Isn't Beckham a free agent? He could have signed for any club who wanted him at any time he chose, but he left it until deadline day. Nothing but a publicity stunt.

Nail on the head. He could have done it yesterday or tomorrow but no. He needed the publicity.

Oh and why did he have to tell everyone he was giving the money away? Once again, publicity.

I can't understand the hatred for Beckham.

Forgetting for a minute he played for the rags, he seems a decent enough guy, so he has capitalised on his good looks, who can blame him?.

If a firm said we'll pay you £5m to advertise our aftershave for two days would you turn them down?.....I doubt it.

The least said about her the better.

Those horrible excuses for human beings Craig Bellamy and Mario Balotelli also give a shit load of their earnings to charity, yet choose not to announce it to the world in a press conference like Saint David.

Twat.
