Not sure why everybody is scrambling for feeble excuses to justify the price "Well United paid more for a player in an entirely different position" It's incredibly rag-like and needs to stop.

The fee is ridiculous, even by the current markets standards, but so what? We got our target. Let them laugh, if it wins us the league, we'll be the ones laughing come May.
It does irritate me when I read in various media outlets here in Germany that City is paying a crazy world record fee for Walker. That was a quote by the way, more or less. Media world wide simply copy and past what's coming from the UK media, and makes it look like City is acting crazily without any kind of sense and financial control. Money is no object for the irresponsible oil club from Manchester.
What"s wrong with this? Firstly, the reported world record fee is apparently incorrect, according to City. Secondly, any fee must be seen relative to the general transfer marked; i.e. other fees. Lukaku 100 million, Pickford 30 million, or here in Germany Tolisso to Bayern 35 million (pounds) are all good examples showing the general level of prices today. Off course this is never mentioned by any media. Why differentiate when you can make City look like the bad guys again?

Maybe others feel the same, and maybe that's why everybody are scrambling, as you put it.

One aspect of this I'm pleased with is that Walker is pretty strong in the air.

Under Mancini from goal kicks we used to have the option, if needed, to hit it to Richards on the right wing and he'd win the header. Chelsea had the same strength last season with Alonso on the left.

I expect us to keep playing it out from the back but just having this option should help to ease the pressure at those goal kicks where a bit of time passes and the opposition is able to completely reset. There were a few occasions last season when it was clear we were going to be pressed the second Bravo passed the ball out. Now we can choose our moment a bit more.

Also you must remember that Ederson can play Aguero straight in from goal kicks this year. That means the opposition defence will have to play deep from our own goal kicks and free up space all over.
