Lack of enthusiasm thread

I think there is a collective depression on here. Either you guys were not around when we were shit, or you actually liked it to be shit. Bluemoon is not a very enjoyable place to visit these days.
Have you thought that it could be that the game everyone watched, when we were shit and after, has changed so substantially with VAR that it has taken the enthusiasm away from it for many?

That, plus it doesn't even feel like the season has started with no fans there. I always think it doesn't feel like proper footy until the leaves have turned and the clocks have changed tbh, but at present it just feels like restart never stopped. I'm about as excited about todays game as a pre-season friendly tbh, because that's what it still feels like.

Expectation is high. Just one League Cup after the clean sweep domestically was a big disappointment for me. One more season of that and he could be gone.
Obviously an anticlimax after the domestic clean sweep. Have you checked you didn't get a sense of entitlement included in the purchase of that flat in Bootle ;-)

It’s not particularly about City being good or shit, that’s just a small part of it.

How the price of footy has gone; so many long standing and even fairly young home+away fans have fallen away from our support; we don’t have a proper vocal stand; there are barely any drinking holes around the Etihad; the feeling that the club would happily replace all of us for people who would buy corporate packages or tickets from the tout sites; how such a huge chunk of our away allocations go to corporates and ticket tout sites; many feel like they’ve never felt a bigger disconnect from the club/players; some players don’t acknowledge the fans after games at home and even away these days; how VAR has fucking ruined all goals whether it’s used or not and that the special thing about the game has disappeared (that elation when a goal is scored); the way City are portrayed in the media has gone too far; the way the governing bodies and other clubs seem to want to stop us and that we aren’t welcome; and how there are no fans in the stadiums at the moment and people are starting to realise that the actual game on the strip of grass isn’t actually as good as we think it is and isn’t as good as it should be and that fans and atmosphere make this sport special and we just can’t get excited about it at the moment...

Not all of these things are my opinion. For example, I don’t give a shit about how the media portray City and the fact that other clubs don’t want us at the top gives me a bit of fire in my belly. But for some fans, these things have brow beaten them over the last decade.

So many have said they’re done with football and City yet they carry on posting.

For some it’ll be from a historical love of the game where they hold onto some very faint hope that they can just get used to this much much shitter version of the sport where you can’t celebrate goals properly anymore, and that it might just be acceptable enough to keep going with.
