My old man ran out of the house when Anelka scored and went pub. He didn’t know it had been disallowed til he got there, thought everyone was winding him up
Great goal as you rightly point out, and Anelka should have scored the winning goal, but we were cheated once again by a twat of a ref.

I can remember a full open end behind the goal and I was in a paddock down the side of the ground that was full of City fans.
It was almost 46 years ago though,so I may have got the Newcastle and Leeds games mixed up with each other.
At Newcastle we only had corner of Gallowgate, Leeds we had behind the goal and down along the side towards dug outs and a load directly opposite

Loads of Wigan got stung with spare tickets they couldn’t get rid of aswell. I think they could buy pretty much as many as they liked and loads bought spares, thinking they’d be able to make a killing flogging them to City fans. We got mithered off them in pretty much every pub we went in asking if we were looking for tickets. But we got enough that just about anyone who wanted one could get one easy enough anyway, so they were left out of pocket.
Probably the last game they went to

Newcastle away ,1968 , four of us went by car and there were hundreds of coaches and cars with blue scarfs on the way and when we got inside it was rammed , wouldnt be surprised if it was 50/50 on the day must have been nearly 25k blues there that day.
Blackburn away won 4-1 to clinch promotion/title , went without a ticket but there were loads of Rovers fans selling their season ticket books for the last game to Blues and making a killing , bought one for about £60 , (when a match ticket would have been £15/£20) paid well over the odds but well worth it.
Stoke away , Trevor Francis debut , no idea how we were allowed so many in the Victoria ground that day , think we had one side of the ground and behind the goal and there were still hundreds dotted around in the Stoke seats
Funny when plastic fans from other clubs deride our support , for a club with no history and no fans we have had some brilliant away days :)

Remember in the programmes on the results/fixtures page, it always had how many we took and how many came to our place. Mostly limited by ticket sales though so no standouts. Who brought the most to us? Obviously United would bring a lot generally. Sunderland when they got relegated was a big turnout though.
