Remember it well. Coming out onto the away coach park directly at the back of the stand and seeing a blue covered in blood holding his head and then being aware of lots of rocks flying in our direction. Staffs plod did fuck all to stop the Stokies either, they just stood there in their riot gear watching us getting bricked...twats.Yep getting out of the coach park was interesting! Stoke fans were furious.
We fought the gypsy gang after Peterborough outside that chippy I went to Goodison too.Peterborough 81 5th round FA cup, thousands of blues there that day and at Goodison Park in the quarters.
A bit like in the carpark at Wembley in 81 after the Thursday night replay.Remember it well. There were a lot Blues there that day.To counter the lowest away following thread.
I’ll start with Notts County away in 1985.
Promotion game, Bank holiday Monday from memory. Party atmosphere on the special travelling to Nottingham.
3-0 down at half time, pitch invasion and fans in the dressing room. Two Simmo goals brought us back into it but it wasn’t to be.
Train wrecked on the way home
Charlton home game the week after ! Happy Days…..
Notts County average was 6000 that season. 17,000 plus there that day so I’ll hazard a guess that we had 11-12000 fans there.
It was the same when we beat them 2 nil in 84, I think, when Clive Wilson scored. Big following that dayWent to that loads were there
Yep . We got penned in and they had the whole embankment to throw rocks, tree stumps etc… after the game.Remember it well. It was a European Final so a lot of neutrals, and I think we only had one side of the ground (the wettest!), and weren't exactly crowded. The only fans I saw in the city before the game were in the cafe under the Austrian football association offices. At 99 Mariahilfe Strasse.... like it was yesterday. There was only a few Gornik fans there that night, seemed to be all City fans from what I remember.
Took a week for us to drive there and back. Sweet memories!
My lasting memory from this game, having just lost, was a guy dressed up as ET trying to get onto the pitch. After much debate with the local constabulary, he proceeded to turn round and gave said PC the extended ET finger ;-)Probably add the fancy dress Boxing Day game to that one too.
