Last Film You Saw

It's shit, but I enjoyed it... maybe I just like shit films
I was expecting more from it after it the start so probably my misinterpretation.

Went to see Nosferatu last night, it wasnt as good as it was made out to be. I really like Egger's films but that wasnt interesting at all for me.

I'm an Eggers fan too.
Loved the Lighthouse and the Witch.. I want to see Nosferatu but can't be arsed going to the cinema.

I love Eggers also but it seems like he's been neglecting building the story properly in favour of the cinematography, I noticed this with The Northman as well, good film but would have been a great movie if the story was developed a little bit more.

Nosferatu.

Been looking forward to this for so long and can't help feel a tiny bit disappointed. It was hyped up beyond belief so I guess I've only got myself to blame. It's starts off great, the first hour is definitely the best part of the film, then it just kind of drags a bit. It's 2 hours and 12 mins which could have been 1hr45.

I was expecting a 4.5,5/5 but I've rated it 4/5.

So still a damn good film.

Oh and it does look stunning.

Victoria & Abdul (2017) - 6/10
Probably toned down a lot to try and make a 'nice film', I imagine the behaviour from the Royal household was even worse than depicted. An enjoyable enough adaptation though.

47 Meters Down: Uncaged - 4/10
Okay shark horror. Similar to the first but you care even less about the characters. At least 1 girl was cast so the director could meet her dad.

The. English King was played by a Frenchman and the Dauphine by an Englishman funnily enough.
That reminds me of the original Highlander with Sean Connery and Christopher Lambert.

Now that's a film I haven't seen in ages, at a guess I'd say it hasn't aged well.

Really enjoyed the King though.

It’s still great, there’s been a 4k update although the special effects are still a bit dodgy it’s a great film with superb soundtrack.

In my opinion, it hasn't aged well. It looks quite dated now. And, compared to nowadays (not fair, I know; Highlander came out 39 years ago), the SFX are very ropey. Roxanne Hart wasn't particularly unpleasant on the eye, mind!

As you said, a fantastic soundtrack...

Love that solo at the beginning!

Punch Drunk Love

Another gem from Paul Thomas Anderson. Sandler and PSH at the peak of their powers here.

Empire of the Sun (1987) - 5/10
A Spielberg film that I hadn't seen or even really heard of, it was actually a bit disappointing. Set in Shanghai as the Japanese decide to take it during WWII. Follows a young English boy trying to survive in occupied China and a Allied internment camp. Feels like a better story was there to be told than what came out.

Young Christian Bale in that

Watched “Maria” last night centred on the last days in the life of Maria Callas in Paris, interspersed with memories and scenes from her earlier life. Beautifully portrayed by Angelina Jolie. Even watching through the inadequate medium of my living room TV, the music was stupendous, reprising some of her roles in classic Italian Operas - with a bit of orchestral Wagner (Parsifal) thrown in. The story was sad in parts, but never flagged.
Film 7.5/10, music 9.5/10.
If you enjoy opera, or just listening to the glorious female voice and the story of a true diva - give it try.
