"Get on Up", the story of James Brown.
I have mixed views on this adaptation. It doesn't break any new ground on biopics, but it does throw in some nice juxtaposition and 'fourth wall' into the mix periodically, as a nice touch. The odd thing about this piece is that it skates over Brown's mega egotistical personality in such a way that you barely realise its magnitude!
Whilst the supporting cast is okay(Jill Scott is large, but smokin' HOT!), Chadwick Boseman's re-enactment of James Brown's stage performance is electrifying! You almost feel like you're watching the man himself!
The other bonus is if you're a fan of funk and soul, you will find yourself swaying to the old classics.
The end result is you will have seen better and worse bios.
