Last Film You Saw

Best ones IMO, might watch a few tomorrow.
Yeah quite a few people have said that, I remember liking them when they came out but not so much now. Saying they're average maybe a little harsh, just not as keen as I once was on them.

I think the villians in both are good though, Willem Dafoe and Alfred Molina did great jobs.

Maybe it's an age thing mate? They are nearer to the comics, tongue in cheek humour etc.

Try to watch the new Marvel films and I can't bloody keep up with them :)

Probably an age thing. Tbh it might be because I've binged all the marvel stuff over the past few months (could never keep up with them but Disney+ has meant I can now) and I'm probably comparing them to some of the better Marvel films like GOTG and Infinity War, which probably isn't that fair.

You see I haven't read the comics so maybe I'm missing that angle, fans of the comics have said they're quite accurate films.

I just think Spider-Man lacks a personality in these, in the modern ones he interacts and talks more as Spider-Man. The villains were done right though, Alfred Molina as Doc Oc is very memorable.

Comedy villains like Lex Luthor and the Penguin from the old films are what's missing for me mate.

Scenes like this, no CGI just good old fashioned slapsick buffoonery, over the top plastic acting.

I know times move on but watching this as a kid was genuinely thrilling at the time, a bit like the old Dr Who which was childrens ground breaking sci-fi until they turned it into a battleground for subliminal messages.

Dune - streamed on HBO max - watching with a new OLED large screen TV.

The visuals were great - the acting OK. I enjoyed Dune - but it's not spectacular in any sense. 7.5/10.

Venom 2: Let there be carnage

Not the best story but some good characters and enjoyed the comedy from Venom. Would have liked to see more from Carnage though. Probably could have been longer than 1 hour 37 mins to get more story in there. Nice little post credits scene, setting up a future tie in with another franchise.

7.5/10

The Notebook, from 2004, what a barrel of laughs. The girlfriend said to me 'If I had that kind of Altzheimers, and I could only be compos mentis 5 mins a day, would you keep reading the same story over and over to me day after day, for those 5 minutes of clarity and rememberance where I recognize you?'
Trying to be honest, I said 'Yeah, but I might take a few days off every now and then, I'm not a saint and you wouldn't know no different, what about if it was me with the Altzheimers?'
She said, 'Nah, I don't think there'd be any point'

Hillary and Jackie
1998

The tragic story of world renowned English classic cellist Jacqueline du Pré, as told from the point of view of her sister, flautist Hilary du Pré-Finzi.

7/10
