Last Film You Saw

I rarely watch films more than once. It doesn't mean I haven't and "Batman Begins" was twice, just to make sure my senses on the first watch were correct.

The best way I can put this (and probably the difference in what we see) is that in Nolan's world 'Batman' is the mask of 'Bruce wayne'. For me, this is an angry dude trying to protect 'Gotham' from villains.

In Reeves' world, 'Bruce Wayne' is the mask of 'The Batman' which is a very important distinction. For me, this is a recluse with shattered mind, hellbent on destroying enemies, with 'Gotham' an afterthought until the last sequences of the film when he realises what he's birthed.

To your last question, this current iteration is an inspiration from obscure comic book stories, closest of which is probably 'Batman: Ego'(this deconstructs our 'hero' brilliantly) and then mash that with the 'Batman: Year' series, some of which are better than others.

I think Reeves will continue along this baseline before making 'The Batman' the legend, we know of.

Wow that brings me back! I read year one and year 2 and enjoyed the latter more, weirdly enough. If I recall Robin was in that, probably why I liked it!
I even remember after the dark knight was released but before they announced Bane as the villain, wouldn't it be cool if Reaper was the villain of the third DK movie, giving way to an Asrael type villan.

You have me excited now, I have not heard of Ego so next time im in Dublin I will buy it. Hopefully it will help me understand your strange viewpoint of the Bat

As an aside, I would definitely give the DK trilogy another look. A quality/critique of Nolans films is they need to be seen multiple times to really appreciate them. While you're at it watch the Presige too, which perfectly demonstrates this

Deal.

Admittedly, I'm no fan of Nolan's [usually overcomplicated] style over substance work, but I will give them one last look before I consign them to history for good!

I will watch them without a critical eye and try not to get irked.

p.s. 'Reaper' is a very good shout and fits in the current mould of Reeves' outlook. Seems a natural arc, thinking about it; a cracked mirror of 'The Batman'.

The question is, would it be too much?

Can you see why introducing 'Robin' anywhere near this point is not good? 'Bats' has enough stories by himself.

Batman.

I am not predisposed to enjoy the superhero genre, but I wanted to see Kravitz and Wright, as I had liked their previous output. The characters these actors played weren't too significant. Only other thing I got out of the film is the dark cinematography. It was black, on black, and some more black.

The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.

Sort of like Being John Malkovich on steroids (or acid). Not brilliant, quite hard to keep tabs on all the Nick Cage references, but an attempt to get away from formula by including the usual formula features is quite clever and at least it's different.

Rent a Pal

Absolutely wank. Probably up there with worst film I've sat through start to finish.
