Last Film You Saw

Appaloosa (2008) - 6/10

Decent-ish western starring Ed Harris and Viggo Mortensen as they attempt to clean up the town of the film's name. It's a good film for the first 75-80% of it but they rushed the ending.
I enjoyed Appaloosa slightly more than you (gave it a 7) :)
Some very good acting. Not bad directing by Ed Harris.

Surprised to see Timothy Spall in a western !
Also thought the script had warmth and plenty of humour.

Trivia;
Viggo Mortensen committed to this movie during a busy stretch of work. When filming was delayed, he tried to beg off, asking Ed Harris to try to find another actor. Harris interviewed 20 others for the role, but they either declined or weren't right for the part. Mortensen agreed to do it, and according to Harris, "Two days before we started principal photography, Viggo shows up in New Mexico. He's ready to go. He's done research on the period. He's given really great thought to his character. He had detailed ideas about his wardrobe and his props. He was in excellent shape and good spirits, and he subsequently played Everett Hitch to perfection. Viggo Mortensen is a man of his word."

Not surprised I thought Viggo's character was the most balanced, it's got a decent cast to be fair. It was a 7 for me right up until the last 20-30mins where it looked like they pressed fast forward to get to the finish.

Just watched ‘Close Encounters Of The Third Kind’ - must be a good 25 years since I saw it but picked it up on Blu-ray on eBay for 3 quid.
It’s really not aged well at all but 1978 is a very long time ago!

"Spike Island" on BBC3

Set around the Stone Roses Gig there.

It's a bit tacky in places, but it's a feelgood film and obviously has some fine tunes!!
