Last Film You Saw

Arent most Oscar nominees like that utter shite no one really watches.

It cost between $14M to $25M to make. That's essentially a cheap 'B' movie anywhere in that budget.

It grossed $107M on word-of-mouth, basically with very little commercial advertisement (maybe had 2 trailers) but with A24's trust.

That return is pretty amazing.

Just watched Tar. I'll never ever think about watching that film again. It wasn't a bad film. The first hour and 20 was promising. I found the discussion about interpretation of music interesting.

However, if you can explain the final 15/20 mins of that film to me I'd appreciate it. The stakes were so low. Spoilers

Rich intellectual snobbish sexual predator loses her mind, job and family. Power corrupts...even if you're a lesbian shocker! Meh.

Blanchett was good.

That's fair.

My own review said it didn't know what it wanted to be, so I found it pretty shocking someone did not oversee it and ask 'Soooo... what's the story here...?'!

The whale ,yes or. No ?
Yes.

Requiem for a Dream, The Fountain, The Wrestler & Black Swan, Aronofsky.

Tried watching 'Tar' because of the extremely high praise it's received. In the USA you can watch 'Tar' for free on Peacock.

I made it through the first 45 minutes - barely. It struck me as an over-wordy, pretentious, boring film about a conductor.

1/10. Stopped watching after I'd had enough.
