Re: David Villa Done Deal!
Has to be RM balked by the asking price.

Bongo Joe said:True - maybe they just decided they'd go for Huntelaar because he was cheaper. You're probably right though i think we outbid then ;)tommcfc said:Bongo Joe said:3. They don't need him now they have Huntelaar.
but why would they buy huntelaar if villa was attainable?
they have always expressed an interest in villa and so to buy huntelaar would mean either one of the two reasons
Did anyone else hear this or has he just heard it personally?Seanmcfc1 said:Where did you hear this?Stackmoney said:Spanish football pundit said deal for David Villa will involve Jo going the opposite way plus 50 million euros. Whats that in Sterling? This is unreal first Robinho now Villa!!!! We should change our name to MancheStars City.
You are reading too much into every statement. How do you know who Hughes wants to sign, and what category of player he is or isn't interested in?svennis pennis said:Nixon_The_Bike_Thief said:svennis pennis said:Where has he said he has agreed high profile targets?
I just get the feeling after the Robinho comment, basically admitting he was a showpiece signing from our owners that Hughes isnt in the market for 'superstars.'
His level is Santa Cruz, we all know that is who he wants.
If you havent heard hughes on numerous occasions state that they are looking at the best players in there positions to take the club forward in the positions that we need then you are only hearing what fits with your agenda ? Hughes has made it clear that we are in the market for players, he has made it clear of what caliber those players need to be and he has stated that the speculation is ludicrous at the moment which I agree with. All he is stating is that he will do his talking when the deal is done and for you to decide that you know who it is and who it isnt based on your own perception of Hughes is both arrogant and misinformed.
Personally I have no idea who we may or may not sign in Jan but I wont be looking to belittle a manager over the possible signing of one of europes recognised star performers should it happen I'll leave that to the rags.
Believe me I want Hughes to prove me wrong. I believe he has his list of targets to strengthen the spine of the team. I don't believe they are world class players but proven premier league players, which is correct. we need to steady and balance the team.
I just think the ambitions lye with our owners, they will be the ones who, imo will bring in the superstars. Hughes has distanced himself form the superstar links in the past few days. He did say that Robinho was a signing for that moment in time. Which suggests he wasn't his signing. I am not saying he wont accept these players, but they will not be his signings.
Ricster said:Might be the case that both City and Real offered the same amount, and they dont want to sell to a team that is in the same league. Villa cant really hurt Valencia if he came to England.
he defo could not play in the uefa cup could he?Marvin said:You are reading too much into every statement. if real matched us we would go one better
from now on nobody can beat us in a bidding war. if we set our sights on someone we get them pricewise the only thing stopping us is lack of success
