Laurence Fox launches political party

or the real underlying motive for the "unconscious" bias of accusing and insinuating anyone who doesn't agree with every tenet of your world view as being a closet racist.
Being a racist has not been mentioned, I don't see it as a race issue at all, I see it as a class issue. I see the Harrow educated Tory backed Fox attempting to divide the working class, that is the prism I view it through. Farage has done for it years, the Tories are masters of it and Fox is doing just the same by using this issue the way that he has. He shows a lack of regard for the working class and a total lack of understanding of the working class. The working class should be showing solidarity with there fellow workers and backing these sort of initiatives because nothing comes easy from the capitalist class that backs Fox.

The one I was invited to attend in Oldham which was a Muslim women's safe space has to be exclusive. If you don't understand why then there is really no more I can add to that.

I am absolute fine with safe spaces for whoever requires them, they are not compulsory and what happens within them should be confidential. If you want your own exclusive safe space I will totally respect that too. Because as much as you hark on about this being about race and it being divisive I will argue it is not, its necessary because people like yourself, Fox and his assortment of cranks think they are divisive. If you are unable to find it within you to respect the needs of a disparate community then don't, carry on with the Fox agenda, because his agenda has nothing at all to do with the rights of the working class and everything to do with division of the working class under false pretence. There are a myriad of reasons why certain groups would need a safe space in which to discuss and debate issues and be empathetic with each other. These reasons could be anything from sickle cell anaemia groups , to the Freemasons, from Male only clubs, to disabled only swimming pool times. To put everything under the broad brush stroke of "exclusion" is ridiculous and divisive in itself, because what you risk is far worse than what you are complaining about. Making everything open and inclusive to everyone totally defeats the object of the safe space in the first place and that risks further alienation, disrespect and misunderstanding of some very important issues that may affect some people but not others.

For instance lets return to Sainsburys. The young black girl on the till is racially abused by a big fat 50 year old EDL clown who tells her to go back to Bongo Bongo land, she is upset and is in tears, if she then retires to the safe space to calm herself does she want the young white lad there who is totally against her having a safe space and has never been abused or does she want the old Black lady who suffered abuse 40 years ago from an NF skinhead and has learned coping strategies in how to deal with halfwits.

If you can honestly say the young white lad is in better position to help the young black girl than the older black lady then i would love to hear your reasoning behind it.

So you're ok with safe spaces for all then including male-only clubs, black only safe spaces, sickle cell anaemia groups etc. Does that mean you're ok with white only spaces too?

If so, do you not see how some people could find this divisive?

I think the underlying reason is really as simple as being offended by someone trying to do something to support a minority group makes you a bit of a ****.

There's been lots of bad ideas in history to support minority groups with the worst amongst them probably being the apartheid system devised by the white minority in South Africa.

Even on this thread, the 12 years a slave costume that Sainsbury's did or the Pure Gym 12 years a slave video were no doubt aimed at supporting black customers but were so utterly stupid and tactless that they caused offence.

So if you think that every idea that somebody comes up with to support a minority group is a good idea or beyond criticism then I think you might wanna hold back on calling other people cunts and reflect on the rank stupidity of what you've just wrote.

Yes I am fine with safe spaces for everyone, how many times do I have to say this.

If the EDL want to have a safe space then that is fine, I wouldn't be against that. I am against the EDL but that is two different things.

Fair enough mate, I disagree but at least you're consistent

As much as you're correct about the Tories and Farage, the modern left wing long ago abandoned the white working classes. In fact almost all insults and stereotypes directed towards them now comes from the left wing.

There is no party or serious political movement catered to them now which is exactly why every cretin going is attempting to grab them as a bloc.

I’m surprised he has time for a new ‘party’ his diary will be filling up soon as he and his like will be all over TV/radio talking about the war against poppies then in December he will be a one man army defending from the war on Xmas

One these people get on these merry go rounds of TalkRadio, Question Time and being a guest on the odd podcast, it must pay pretty well.

It’s the poor saps that fall for it I feel sorry for. Fox and the like are on the make, and false victim hood pays well it seems

I have already seen posts about the sale of poppies being banned in certain places (Bradford/Oldham/Rochdale/Birmingham are amongst the locations being blamed - can't imagine why #lazyracism ) and the annual "Winterval" tweets - fucking pathetic but the fact is a lot of people buy into this shit.

The metropolitan liberal left abandoned the working class, they are not Socialists. They are comfortable with neo liberalism, happy with inequality and although it is a stereotype are more likely to be middle class.

The poppy police appal me. Until a few years ago I always attended the cenotaph and always wore a poppy. I don't anymore as I am not being forced to wear one to prove I am some sort of patriot. The day has been hijacked by World War 2 fetishists, who aren't mourning the sacrifice of our fallen, they are celebrating winning a war.

My grandad was a desert rat, he never wore a poppy, I didn't really understand why, I do now.

As for winterval, its a myth that has been busted, It was a throwaway remark from a low level council employee in Birmingham which was seized upon by the Mail and made into an issue to cause division, but thats the Mail all over.
