Le Tour de France 2016

Hey, I like Froome, but he ain't exactly bursting with a vibrant personality. However, that doesn't appear to have stopped people voting for 'dullards' before. I think the problem is that we've had that much success in cycling the British public have become accustomed to our riders winning and don't see it as anything special. Christ, 3 TdF wins and the headlines will be about fucking cricket or a football transfer!

Look at Cavendish. 30 stage wins, and at one point he won on the Champs Elysees 4 times in a row, and most Brits would walk past him in the street.

It's been a brilliant perforqmce from Chris and the Sky Team. Regarding the Sports personality of the Year. I think it might be more to do with Froomey being a bit quiet like you said. Cav won the SPOTY in 2011 and Brad in 2012. It's also true that Chris has come on the scene when we had already become a cycling powerhouse, unlike Murray who won the tennis holy grains of Wimbledon and the Davis Cup.

It is true that expectations are very high for our cyclists so I think Froomey may need a strong showing at the Olympics as well to be a top contender for SPOTY.

I'd forgotten all about Cavendish winning the SPOTY!

Regarding SPOTY, so far I think its Froome's, I think a 3rd Tour De France beats a 2nd Wimbledon and a pretty poor Wimbledon at that. However its an Olympic year, so Froome's going to need a Gold medal or 2 and possibly the Vuelta if he's feeling good. He must be the favourite for the Olympic time trial as well, now Dumoulin has done his wrist in and is touch and go to make it.

I agree on SPOTY, he'll do well to win it in Olympic year.

On a flat course (I dont know what the Olympic TT course is like) Tony Martin has to be the fav, Cancellara has dropped out to get himself ready for the Olympics and there is Kiryienka as well.

Well if that personality of personalities Cuntish Giggs can win it, then Froomemeister is miles ahead, or kilometres as we're talking French cycling!
