Leadership

How does that top Sane's headed clearance going straight into path of Ricardo and him hitting a wonder-strike? Likewise Schlupp and Townsend. There maybe shortcomings in the side that prevent us from overcoming teams like LCFC and CPFC who were ultra-defensive and did a good job but it's not character. I look maybe at the quality of players who come in for the injured players.

Maybe, with a more vocal leader on the pitch, we don't end up in those positions in the first place ? Maybe, with a more vocal leader we actually put more of our chances away ?
Maybe, with a more vocal leader people compose themselves better and handle their responsibilities, but seeing as though you quoted Sane, well, Sane's header was incredibly poor and it seemed to me he actually had time to assess his options rather than just hitting a weak header to a free player on the edge of the box, maybe a more vocal leader would have given him a shout that he had time ?
Neither Schlupps nor Ricardos would be what I would describe as "wonder-strikes" either, Townsends yes, he'll never hit a ball in that position as sweetly in his life ever again I bet.

The last 16 months were a dream were they where we had all those things then.

FFS grow a pair every flapper we have had a shit run, it happens to all clubs.

We can see that we have suffered with dinho/silv/kev out now is not the time to panic and be absurb about the mettle of this team

A squad full of quiet nice boys. That’s fine when things are going well and things are clicking.

When things aren’t clicking there’s a distinct lack of organisation, encouragement and bollockings going on, on the pitch.

All three players could try that strike 100 times and maybe 3 times they go in. They were all beautifully clean and perfect strikes. They fell perfectly for them. I accept that Sane's header could have been better but it fell perfectly for the forward who then hit it wonderfully. Leicester will say it was a strike that deserved to win the game and in many ways it was but it is bad luck that these sides seem to be hitting wonder goals against us

Nothing worse than blaming the character of the side. How many times did we show that last season?

Injuries, lack of cover in certain positions, and bad luck are far more significant. We have no cover for Mendy and Fernandinho so what happens we lose those two players, and the one player who might be able to cover either position gets sent off

Sorry Marv mate you’re one of my favourite posters but give over mate.

There’s no way last season’s team loses 3 out of 4 games on the spin in the league.

Why?

Cos they weren’t fucking having it that’s why.

If you can’t see the team’s head is in a different place this season you need to have a few weeks off.

Hard to see this as anything other than a knee jerk reaction thread.

I bet the OP wasn’t calling for snarling on field generals until we lost at Chelsea. Very good teams can have very bad spells and we’re having one. Come the January window I’m absolutely in favour of spending some of the money we should’ve spent in summer to strengthen certain positions but that doesn’t mean I’m questioning the “guts, spirit, fight, bollocks” of our championship winning squad like a flapper.

Sane’s header was outrageously poor mate. You dont head it straight to their player who’s just waiting to leather it into the net. You clear your lines in whatever way is nevessary.

Poor application and more importantly it was fucking complacent.

Thinks it's more to do with the "take the game by the scruff of the neck" player.

Yaya used to and KdB is that player now. Once he gets up to speed.

When the team are on the crest of a wave they are fab but when the chips are down more often than not they go missing. Even without the injuries.

Liverpool without their front three went to Burnley and won 3-1

And?

We are talking about our apparent lack of leadership because we have had a bad run of 3 defeats in 4.

If you are replying that because I pointed out our 2nd, 3rd & 4th choice as captains have been out of the team and our spine has suffered (add also out 1st choice captain Vinny too)
Well
Salad, mane and the other lad are not captain or replacememt captains, so don't see your point on the leadership conversation, if i had lamemted sergio, sane and strerling not neing out affecting our goals then I would get the point as it's similar positions

Back to it though, 3 bad games in as many weeks after 3 in 47, to say we don't have strong players and leaders all over after that form, because we are having a blip, is flapping and imho ridiculous

I was there today and tbf we didn't deserve to lose, we were not awful, and created oportunities, but we again lacked a cutting edge and conceded too much space at times in the centre allowing them to press, and honestly their winner was a great strike.
