anyone can win a cup (esp the league cup as a lot of managers do play weakened teams in a lot of the rounds) - PEG will know this and will hope having good cup run will appease the fans

Agreed. Don't care about them except that it makes it more complicated to put out a weaker team like we did tonight. This cup needs to be a rest period for our fist Xi and I hope the manager treats it as such and the fans understand that it is the right thing to do. With the Xmas period and CL matches we have too many midweek fixtures to go for this one
