I think sunderland put on a quite a show, time then for them to show the manager and the fans they are capable of that every week. they can do it, it was there for all to see. Wembley (again) and premiership safety is totally in their hands.

It's never nice to lose a cup final (we know the feeling) and I understand that it was really big for them not being there for so many years, but just because we were not that demonstrative outside of the ground does not mean we don't care, why would 30 odd thousand of us pay out good money to go in the first place.

From where I was sat, it meant a hell of a lot to all the City fans sat around me

My take was that we had won the game and were showing respect for the mackem fans. Overcelebrating would have been rubbing their noses in it.
Saw plenty of groups of fans clapping each other and shaking hands outside the ground.
Great to see.

Well one of my best mates is an ex Sunderland pro. I've met loads of them over the years and always found they are sound and are good company to be in. Proper footballing knowledgeable fans in the main. Like any club including our own they have wankers supporting them just like us.

Got back up north, had time for a couple of pints and then get a lift home to watch the start of MOTD2
