LeagueCup SF - Man Utd - away allocation of only 3000 (p30)

I remember paying £40 for that game in 2010. Ten years later I'll go £50/ticket for season ticket holders.

Yeah, was around £40 IIRC, and a similar price for the away leg at theirs. Was around the same for the FA Cup game at ours in 2012. Funny thing about that one is that at the time City said anyone on the FA Cup scheme wouldn't pay more than £15 for a ticket in any round before the quarter final so when we got drawn against United in the 3rd round they must've been kicking themselves. I know my mate was too as I only paid £15 due to being on the cup scheme and him £40. Needless to say, City dropped that £15 cap after that season!

essentially both clubs are saying that their own fans cannot be trusted and that your support is not wanted. When they are pushing to sell tickets for a game that is a hard sell, i hope they are reminded of this decision

that’s exactly it.
- can’t be trusted.
- don’t want your support.

can’t wait for the empty seats jokes and the 5% increase on the ST. This is why I binned off the cups.

So what City are saying is the likes of me who are on the cup scheme are not to be trusted going to Old Trafford but they want me to be there against the likes of Burton & Port Vale?
You either want me as a supporter or you do not - picking and choosing which game i can go is unfair.
I wonder how many of the 3,000 tickets will go supporters on points/cup scheme or will the corporates come out of the woodwork and snap half of them up.
I’m absolutely pissed off

Really annoyed about the lower allocation. I have only had a seasoncard since 2011 and only have 5000 points so don't get the chance to go to local away games other than in the cup. Since having my card I could have paid the extra £100 a season to get double loyalty points, maybe its a case of cutting my nose of, but I don't agree with the concept of paying more makes me more loyal so I haven't.

In general i have no issue with the points scheme, i have two kids and a wife etc. and take my son who is still at school with me to all games, so making the away games i could get tickets for isn't very practical, i accept this and always hope for a local away draw in the cups. Preston this year was really good and we both really enjoyed it. Since the derby draw was made we have been looking forward to the away game, and were hoping we would be able to get tickets as we are in the cup scheme and thought it had a chance of getting down to our points level.

With the lower allocation there isn't a chance we will now get tickets. I could say i won't go to the home game, but i will. I could say i won't go to Wembley should we get there, but i will. I could say i won't renew my season ticket but i will. I understand the more away fans there are the more the chance of trouble increases, but surely measures could have been put in place to limit this. It does feel a bit like the genuine fans are the last thought in decision makers minds, as this would have been a great occasion for the fans and for the cup as a whole if the normal allocation had been given.

I am guessing this decision is now set in stone and can't be changed. I love my club and nothing can change that but this does make me angry , but more than that City i fell a bit let down and I am just disappointed with you!!

I'm not sure that's the case mate. I think the clubs agree between themselves what the pricing should be, and I'm guessing as United will be getting a percentage of the gate receipts, they'll want us to charge as much as possible!
They change the rules every other season. I think the home clubs set the prices now.

Bang on the money. Brilliant post.

1894 STATEMENT : League cup Semi final - Reduced Ticket Allocation For Away Fans...
We note with dismay that allocations for away supporters for the League Cup semi finals have been cut drastically from the 10% of stadium capacity to the figure normally allocated for a Premier League game - circa 3,000.
The whole of Manchester - blue and red- was buzzing for these ties and part of that was the fact that allocations would be higher than for a normal League game.
If the clubs truly cared about fans they would have put these plans on the table and asked supporters to give their view.
We feel it is a very short sighted decision. What's next ? A Rangers - Celtic situation where away fans get less than 1,000 tickets each ?
We would like the clubs to confirm what if any consultation was carried out with any fan representatives - our information is that no consultation has taken place.
Fans join cup schemes and loyalty schemes and support the competition in the early rounds. They attend these games so that they can attend a semi final with a big allocation and be part of a spectacle.
There are many dangers here :
- The apparent lack of consultation will just mean that fans won't believe they count anymore. Fans being taken for granted.
- Clubs continuing to disregard what match-going fans want and need. (They will soon be asking us for season ticket money & justifying any increase in price)
- Possible downturn in interest in renewing cup schemes or attending future semi-finals or finals.
- More chance of City fans being in the United end and United fans being in the City end which ultimately could lead to more problems.
Its a hugely disappointing decision and one that we hope does not happen again.
In the week that Pep says he needs a better atmosphere generating by the fans the club do an almighty stitch up on us again...
