Leeds (H) | PL | Post-Match Thread

I think secretly Pep will be delighted. We got 3 points and he has an excuse to get into them if he feels they need it. Hard to keep a team 19 unbeaten on their toes.
Was just saying the same to the missus.

This feels like the Spurs games where he took the opportunity to lay in to the players, club, and fans.

As a few of us predicted then, it turned out to be exactly what was needed. We’ve lost once since, to Spurs shortly after, which then went on a dire run themselves (after using up all of their energy to win the ‘We Beat City This Season’ Cup).

Reckon Pep cherishes these sort of results as an opportunity to light a fire under the player’s arses and remind them of what happened last year in Madrid.

In some ways, this is exactly the result we needed right before heading to the Bernabeu: Haaland will be raging for goals, the players will be reminded they have to be switched on at all times, Pep will make it clear his instructions supersede all individual thoughts or decisions (or else), and the club as a whole will work to be as professional as possible through the run-in for the three campaigns still ongoing.

Sometimes you need these sorts of games to make you play better in the next few.

Why do we do this to ourselves haha. Also wasn't too happy with Gundo wanting to take the pen. Just leave it to the one reliable PK taker in Haaland. There's no time for niceties we're at the business end.
Exactly. I blame Gundo more than Haaland. He's the senior, the captain. He should know his responsibility to the team outweighs his personal achievement.
Give the ball to Haaland and tell him to twat it!

The narrative will be that Allardyce nearly pulled off a shock result, except he didn’t. His team were out of sight for 85 mins and then got lucky, which happens in football and sometimes you deserve a bit of luck, but not today. This was all down to the pen debacle and it better not happen again.

Three points that's all that matters, but we should have been out of sight by half time . Decent performance overall, got a little nervy at the end due to our profligacy in front of goal.

Apart from the penalty Ilkay was very good today and I just hope he stays at City for at least another season.
