I was extremely proud to be there yesterday to not only see a great win but also to witness an impeccable rendering of the National Anthem. Having heard about the debacle at the ground down the other end of the East Lancs ours made me proud. Actually as I knew it would.

To be fair our fans are always respectful in the main , just like the munich anniversary when the media were all saying that we would not show the respect it deserves. We showed our class that day not forgetting one of our greats Frank Swift perished that day

We have got a stadium full of non Mancs claiming Mancs aren't showing respect for a Manchester tragedy.

That's the state of play, talk about cultural appropriation?

Yes, I am always proud of our fans on these sort of occasions which is why I said actually as I knew they would.
That anniversary one was also impeccable especially when Ferguson stood there chewing gum. Where’s the respect in that? Rather like Allardyce yesterday. I am not bothered whether people sing or not but to be chewing gum!!!!

Well I’ve had a good run. After 40 odd years and 1, 500 games + I’ve finally been rumbled.

I knew I couldn’t keep it up forever.

And the media, after writing all manner of pieces about how we wouldn’t respect the occasion, broadly ignored the fact that we actually did.

Contrast that with very little consternation published ahead of the national anthem being played at Anfield, followed by many different outlets publishing articles clearly trying to “contextualise” and minimalist the disrespect shown by Dippers booing it.

I am Republican, so strongly believe the monarchy needs to be abolished, and our country reformed to better meet our supposed ideals, but even I am not crass to boo our anthem.

I would only do that if we eventually do abolish the institution of the royal family and some club tries to play God Save the King.
 
You can’t expect the team to perform 100% for 90 + minutes every match at this stage of the season.Fatigue , crazy fixture , injuries, shitty world cup , light squad depth etc etc
I ‘ll happily take scrappy 3 points thank you very much.

A few of your posts I've seen have been thinly disguised digs at ourselves, like your latest ridiculous one about us keeping it in the corner. Creepy? Are you sure? No fan of any club would think there was anything strange about that. 2-1 up with seconds to go and fighting for a title it is exactly the right thing to do. But you knew that anyway didn't you?

Well, you can expect that, it just wouldn’t be rational or reasonable to do so. ;-)
