Leeds (H) | PL | Post-Match Thread

Ass end of the season, it's all about the three points, especially in potential banana skin games against cloggers like that.

Let's be honest, not long ago most here had written off the title, now we inch closer to keeping it. I'll take it!

We won. We have one hand on the title. Which means that little faux pas in the second half can be forgotten about. Just don't let it happen again City!

I honestly don’t think the team is tired. I think they’re trying to save their legs/energy for Madrid. They are desperate for this champions league. I think we are getting the wins with minimum effort as possible

Of course you can, I said "second half", they decided they'd won, no game is ever "won" at 2-0, and they were close to blowing it, we missed many good chances before the penalty we should have have been 5 or 6 up.

We got away with it today for me, against a pretty shite team to be fair.

I found the 2nd half very frustrating but it wasn't a disgrace.

A blip for a couple of minutes again illustrated the fine margins that can exist in football - as if we needed a reminder with Madrid next - but, aside from that, we controlled the game. The frustration is that we didn't also kill the game off much earlier.

We didn't get away with anyhting though. Leeds got away with it: they should have been slaughtered but our slightly off finishing spared them.

Sorry but you're very wrong there, my expectations are "be proffesional", first half today I couldn't fault that.

We should have been 3 or 4 up at HT, but we played the second half like 2-0 was fine, a lot of it was very poor, giving the ball away needlessly, all across the team.

We also missed numerous chances (in both halfs to be fair), and then ended up hanging on at the end (though they never really threatanted us that much), but as soon as they went 2-1 it wasn't great.
2-0 was fine. That's a fact.

To me at least, there seems to be a shift in mindset from some blues from enjoying performances and winning results—especially as we continue to compete for nearly everything these is to win—to an unhealthy (for them and the club) and unreasonable demand for absolute domination in every minute of every match.

If we aren’t dominating for 100% of the match, conceding not a single chance to the opposition, and putting 5 or 6 past whichever poor side turns up on the day, many seem to think we’ve been “unprofessional” or a “disgrace”.

And they trot out claims that Pep being frustrated or annoyed with the play and/or players is evidence that this is the correct perspective. Which is just plain wrong, as it is Pep’s mindset and job to never be fully happy during a season, no matter how well we played and how fully the score line reflects it. He is meant to always be asking for more and demanding perfection. The fans don’t have the same need or mandate.

I mean, we quite literally dominated the match for all but ~60 seconds (the total time for their headed chance and later goal), missing about 8 big chances to score—as it was one of those days that happen every now and then—and many on here are posting like we not only lost but were laughably amateur and let the fans down in doing so.

It’s just beyond my comprehension to see that shift and it is worrying, given this sort of arrogance and delusional thinking is the trademark of the supporters down the road.

As I said earlier in the thread, it is amazing how conceding a single goal changes the entire perception of a performance (and the players!) for some blues.

The kind of attitude you speak of drives me mad. I comment far too often on people wrongly calling a City performance crap or shite.

I'd love to see us give a perfect perfromance but it will never, ever, happen, which is why Pep can always demand improvement from his players.

Shit does happen though, which is why we won a game 2-1 instead of 8-0.

I fear alot of people will be losing their shit on here over the next few games: City will put us through the wringer even if they win multiple trophies. This stage of the season is never going to be a cake walk.

There was a significant fall off in terms of control in the 2nd half. A better team than Leeds would have punished us perhaps . Maybe it was intentional energy conservation or further evidence of fatigue who knows. It is a disgrace to call it a disgrace but it was sloppy and the day ended with a bout of unnecessary squeaky bum time.
If we had been playing a better team, we would have stepped up the pace.

I think it’s the “we should be [insert unreasonable expectation]” statements along with the angry posts that worry me.

That is the exact behaviour we have been mocking the red lots for decades. They often scream entitlement and loss of perspective.

Just seems like we may be very slowly turning in to a version of the fan base we have detested for generations (and I don’t mean new fans that may only be jumping on the bandwagon; I mean long suffering blues seemingly turning to the dark side).

But perhaps I just have lower expectations and am happy to be winning and fighting for the treble and won’t be absolutely devastated and furious if it doesn’t happen (though, right now, I reckon it will).

Tough second half which should of been avoided; gutted for Ake

The pts all that matters I guess, our performance levels, even at 60% still beats the majority.. good rest for the core players

Newcastle win tomorrow and I reckon 1 more win does it for us!
With Mahrez and Foden contributing next to nothing and the rest of the team having a spot of practise, it just shows you how truly pathetic the Leeds team were. They are getting relegated for sure.
