Leeds Thread - 2021/22

Bielsa is over rated by wanna be hipster Guardian "journalists".

The bloke is a shite Jack Duckworth with no plan B. "Murder ball" my arse.

Some talk of crowds gathering at the ground, but not quite sure if that’s a protest against his sacking or just a show of love/appreciation for his time there.

The former would just be totally unjust.

Relegations hit a club hard and people are often so focused on the players that they forget a lot of the working class employees will suffer. Bielsa was sleepwalking towards the drop because either his pride was more important than staying up, or he simply didn't know how to change anything, and I honestly believe anyone with a few coaching badges could have done more to tighten up that defence.

If Leeds fans are protesting their board taking action to try and prevent a really damaging relegation, they're completely out of touch with the impact it would have had on the club, which goes far beyond however much they might like Bielsa.

On an unrelated note, I wouldn't want my manager to simply not bother learning English. Pep put so much work into learning German in just a few months before going to Bayern. I'm not asking him to be fluent, I know from experience how tricky learning a new language is, but even a little bit of effort wouldn't have gone amiss.

There in lies the dilemma he had....he could learn English - but then spends his time being surrounded by the Yawkshuh accent....

Harsh reality that owners arses drop when relegation is a possibility. Deserved to see the season through imho.
Possibly, but it wasn’t just the defeats was it, it was the scale of the defeats. Repeatedly.
To my mind, anyway.

as far as I'm aware they haven't, speaking to a bunch of them last week they were tinged with the inevitability of it given the fundamental flaws but he's given them the best side they've had for a generation. Seems more sadness that it's ended 2bh.

The media have been talking about how many goals dirty Leeds have conceded - 20 - in the last five matches, but there has been no mention of the fact that they let in seven in one game not so long ago.

that's like slagging off Keegan when he quit. He's done a great job for Leeds and is adored here, despite his flaws when they've gone beyond his talent level.

I like the bloke he's a character and as mad as bucket of frogs but he knows his stuff. He's always honest, brutally so at times. If he hadn't had all those injuries to key players they'd probably be okay.

I knew he was a dead man walking when I saw the way they set up at The Etihad. Five minutes in the game and a pleb like me in the upper tier of the Colin Bell could say with certainty "We'll get five here easy".

I've never thought he'd made it long term. You can't be long term successful in English football without speaking English fluently.
