Only got punched twice at games, Leeds being one of them. Had a few to many drinks that day on the way to the match and decided to wear my scarf walking to the ground. Not one of my better ideas and not long before the Yorkshire neanderthals attacked. Four of us were getting a good kicking when a mini bus stopped along side and a group of City lads got off and joined the fun, saving my bacon. I believe one of the lads off the bus was a lad called Scotty who was well know amongst City supporters. A few years to late but whoever Scotty was thanks pal. Sobered up during the game and hid my scarf on the way out. The only other time I got a beating was fron City supporters but that's another story.

I was there as a very old teenager of 30. I was a corporate guest in the posh seats. There was a real argy-bargy over the smoked salmon and a major dispute concerning the prawn sandwiches. Settled amicably by a champers drinking contest. I heard the peasants were a bit lively that day but a charge by the police horses soon quelled them.
I hope that you were placed high up in the stadium so that you could look down on the seething masses from Olympian heights…

Remember it well , I recall it kicking off on the slip road to the motorway after the game , Elland rd was no place for the faint hearted back then .

Maine Road was regarded as a bloody rough,scary place by most away fans.Remember it well , I recall it kicking off on the slip road to the motorway after the game , Elland rd was no place for the faint hearted back then .
Ambush Allys,the mile walk back to the coaches at Princess Parkway and Kippax car park was unendingly violent particularly against the scousers.
It's largely changed now but City had several terrifying 'teams' to rival anyone.

Went to the 1982 challenge cup final replay at Elland Rd watching Widnes. Leeds turned out in numbers but were after Hull FC, Widnes fans were ignored, always a scary place even when Leeds United aren't playing.

Went to a Fa cup game at Leeds, probably in 76/77.
Leeds won the game 1-0 ,Trevor Cherry getting a late winner .
It was a brutal place to go .
I remember walking to the ground with all blues in a police escort .
Leeds fans on the other side of a main rd ,one guy in particular stood out to me walking with a limp with a walking stick .
The next thing leeds fans charged across the rd lead by this this guy, he was whacking city fans with his stick ,it was mayhem .
We felt a bit safe once we got into the ground in a side stand with no roof,but that was short lived .
During the game all of sudden we had to take cover has the bastards outside the ground started throwing stones ,rocks into the terrace we were in .
luckily for me & my oldman we put are motorbike helmets on to protect our heads ,while stone's were coming down on us like hail stone lol!
Absolutely intimidating day ,glad to get home. ha!ha!

It's the reason I'm a Blue (and my user name) because I was a keeper too. I copied his superstitions :)
It was runner-up in "Save of the Season" on Match of the Day to some shite from Alex Stepney IIRC. Media bias even in those days!

Remember going there in a league game in December with my Dad and all hell broke loose at the dreaded bridge near the coach car park... anyway we survived , as a 13 year old kid i thought i dont fancy going back there in a hurry... then the fa cup draw came on the radio ... Leeds Utd v Manchester city ... "we arnt going are we Dad ".... too right we are ........ And yes it was even worse in the cup game !!!!
