Yeah, its going to have to be that - Phillips crow-barred in there, massively disappointing though! We need that 100 million back and get Paolo Maldini out of retirement.

Yeah, some humour - lets get that back from the hitler woke gang - lol
btw...wheres Angelino these days? we need someone

Our left backs have been cursed since Kolarov and Clichy left and Alves u-turn. In a parallel universe Ryan Bertrand has almost 200 appearances for City and we’re looking for a replacement for Alves as Walker’s back up.

Not worried about getting a star performer in, in fact. Hence, I admit my Cucurella fever of a few weeks back has considably abated (if he is a star performer, by the way, outside of the rather particular context of Brighton and Hove Albion).
Its ok if we get a decent left back with potential. Pep has shown over and over again that he can take a decent player and make him a good one. And that he can take a good player and make him a brilliant one.
That, more than anything else, is why Pep has been easily our most important recruitment over the last six years.

14 left-backs on the poll and I don't care about any of them over any of the others.

Admittedly that's in some cases me not knowing the player well. In the rest I just don't think there's much in it and none are - at this point - exceptional.

However, Pep would make any of them better than they are now.

I always think that the problem we have is that in order to win the CL we need a genuine world class Left back, however to win the domestic honours we generally just need a competent player. The fact that in Pep's time we have used converted midfielders in Delph and Zinchenko as well as a right back in Cancelo at left back proves this point.

Do we pump £50 million into the lad a Brighton in the belief he will become world class or go with a cheaper option?

No hate, but if you think the reason we didn't win the last 2 VL is because we didn't have a World Class Leftback, them we've been watching different games.

I want a good Leftback because it improved the team. Just like I'd want anywhere else.

But we've failed to win the CL because of bad luck and bottling it. Bad luck against a weak Real Madrid and boring it against Chelsea the prior year. A World Class Leftback would not have changed either outcome.

That said, I agree a fantastic Leftback improves our future chances. :)

How about start play acting and bribing the scumbags at UEFA and their referees if the club wants to win this plastic competition. That would be the more logical solution than making assumptions our professional and serial winning players are the problem.
