Still think Sergio Gomez would do for now and then go back to Argentina and get Valentin Barco from Boca Juniors next year. Still ridiculously young, granted, but already apparent he’s going to be an exceptional leftback and our interest in him is longstanding.

The benefits of a wide, left-footed LB would have such an effect. It allows us to play our best CB partnership again (Dias/Stones) and frees Grealish back into the roaming, central version of a winger that he wants to be rather than the wide version Cancelo forces him to be. All you would lose is Cancelo's creativity, and if that is so needed in the game, you can always play him at RB anyway. Plus, it covers injuries, and gives us options. I so hope we get something done.
