Team looks jaded what a joke.
I'm not sure Pellegrini had that many options.
You concede a goal from a set-piece in 2 minutes you chase the game, and we had a much weakened team out there.
He has to stop playing Toure, that's about the only major thing I can criticise Pellegrini for today. We really missed the width we get from De Bruyne and Navas and instead nearly all our attacks came from Sterling and Kolarov down the left hand side and they didn't provide much danger
I thought Kolarov was one of our better players. The whole team played badly. Aguero and Hart did OK. Maybe Otamendi too

Agree with this . Superb summary .Think if you're going to play an aging Demi then you've got to defend deeper/ shorten the high line so that the opposition can only fire long range . Martin has been a fantastic servant for us but I really believe MP is killing him right now . The body just cannot cope as well after 30 we all know it . He's living on past glories of 2014 when we won it quite easily . But you simply can't go on week in week out expecting an older player to perform the way he performed at Sunderland the other night when we played a low line and dug in .Leicester deserved it. Sadly I knew the result (if not the score) as soon as the match kicked off. I just couldn't believe by eyes that Delph was playing as a left sided AM rather than as a DM. And yes Yaya was playing DM. Top that off with a high defensive line - giving Vardy a match up against DeMichalis and you just stare at your feet in disbelief.
Anyhow after a warning shot with Vardy leaving DM for dead they got a set piece and low and behold Huth scores from a wicked deflection off DeMichalis that Hart would have saved otherwise. "Ah well at least it's woken City up" thought I but oh no not a bit of it. City get caught in the break repeatedly and only 2 stops by Joe in one in ones keeps the score down. The whole team is playing pants. Worst is YaYa who just couldn't give a shit then Silva and Sterling who just keep giving the ball away. Just crazy stuff.
After the break it's worse. Seriously great goal by Mahez and a free header at a corner for Huth with Joe stopping Vardy on another two occasions.
Going 4-4-2 stops the rot somewhat but we only Buck up when Silva goes off. Just what has happened to him? Carrying a slight injury can't help but he's done that before. It's giving the ball away the way he is that is shocking.
Anyway Celina comes on and suddenly we're dynamic and start doing things on both flanks. Got one back from Aguero but could easily have got another back. Too little to late mind.
Does Pellegini even bother watching videos of the opposition?
City man of the match: Joe Hart - it would have just been embarrassing if he hadn't saved 4 one on ones.
Can City still win it? Yes of course they can but not if Pellers keeps ignoring what the opposition bring to the table.
I didn't say he played well, but that going forward he and Sterling were just about the only thing we had on Leicester. He got forward well repeatedly. This is an important part of full back play and a big part of our game which is always ignored.Surely you jest. Kolarov was awful both attacking and defending and Otamendi was poor too.
I don't think there's any fear of player power over pep. The heirarchy have waiting a long time for pep. If he says in the summer he doesn't want kompany, silva, Aguero, then those guys are gone. The seeds for this season were sown in May 2013 when the club decided the players must, in every situation, be given more power than the manager.
It did for Mancini, and it has done for Pellegrini.
Do not be too surprised if pep has second thoughts before June. He is a sensible, intelligent man. Will he really want to risk his entire reputation having to manage a team where his boss makes it very plain that in a dispute between the two, the players will always have their side taken. Every time.
I wouldn't if I was him.
I've been saying for weeks that Toure should not start. Thought so today as well, although with so many players out, there aren't that many left with quality on the ball. You're right to say he didn't have many options. Today he only really had 2 selection decisions to make and got them bother utterly wrong. Clichy or Kolarov and Fernando or Yaya. You don't play your slowest and most attacking back 4 against a pacy counter attacking side. that is beyond stupidity, and something i'd love to hear him try to explain. it's quite possibly the most clueless decision i've ever seen. Everybody thought it was a no brainer, i even said in the pre match thread in jest, i bet he plays Kolarov even i didn't tihnk he'd be that stupid. Then add to that not playing Fernando who protects the back 4 excellently and offers a barrier to the quick counter attack.
On top of that he managed to get something else wrong by playing Delph completely out of position. Delph has been put there a few times this season now and been taken off a halftime every time, i feel sorry for him as it's not his fault, he's not a left sided midfielder and never has been. he's a centre midfielder and a much better one currently than Yaya. Pellegrini seems to think he's Milner reincarnated or something.
